The answer is a wealth tax. The inequality grows leading into a need for investments like these. If all other assets weren't so inflated then we could at least wish PE wouldn't need to do things like this but this is what will happen. Excess capital keeps buying up assets lower classes need due to lack of options otherwise.
This is also due to inequality which leads to more and more of the same. There just aren't many ways entrepreneurs can add value. It is easier to capture it from assets needed by lower classes. Get a wealth tax to fix this or at least tax the wealth out of the rich.
Funeral homes and anything else not run by a single professional has had this treatment. This is due to inequality. The wealthy have nowhere left to invest but things like this which raise costs for the lower classes. Taxing wealthy far more is the only solution but people have a hard time voting in their interests. We're doomed.

False. He actually has went and reworked troll posts he made in the past. Thats what this guy does. He has no intellectual integrity. His technical background (calling yourself COO doesn't really count as a technical background)
In the past, this person trolled Bitshares to make a name for themselves. They selectively cut'n'pasted snippets of the Bitshares forum as some form of evidence in other posts. There is a ton of context there that was removed. A blockchain can give an asset value, but that doesn't mean every market will guarantee those prices. He is now going after the Maker coin. The guy does well SEOing his website with this rubbish but he doesn't seem to understand much outside of that. oh well, no big deal until google/ycombinator point to him as an authority.
The advice is, "tell the person what they want to hear". It is absolutely no surprise that the author does not stick around at one job either.
This is an awful article. How is it at the top of ycombinator. There is no breakdown of any costs or what their living standard ACTUALLY is. These people could very well (and likely do) have spending issues. Eat out too much, buy too many gadgets, replace their car far too often, etc. Thats the problem far too often. Boo Hoo

This is idiotic. The author harps on the "direct wealth transfer" and optimizing for previous employees. This "optimization" happens before employees are hired, not after they leave. The effect is realized after the ex-employees have left.

Rackspace seems to like to hire lovable losers. They claim they are exceedingly selective, but they never go into details about what traits they value. They seem to value people who are not as driven as others. Those that'll hang around for average wages. People who won't be bored and want something better. They frame this as being 'more selective than Princeton' but that can mean a lot of things. My friends coworkers were a bit lol. Everyone was likeable but they all seemed flawed personality-wise.
You learn more from failures. Being part of a big success can mean nothing more than gettin' lucky. People are dumb. The problem is it is near impossible to attribute the failures to specific traits.

I've never known anyone who acted reasonably have a spit mask put over their face. Only place I was arrested. I was off the charts drunk and treated 100% fairly. Long hair and all. If you were to reference the anti-gun propaganda which went over mass shootings in recent history, Austin is distinctly lacking for a city of its size. Yes, there have been shootings. Charles Whitman is the famous one.
Yes, but there is no real story yet. People do legitimately become detained for things. It sucks, but thats what happens when you show up to demonstrations etc which the author aludes to previous in his twitter feed, but not the one quoted in this message. Why is this crap making it to the top of ycombinator? I am perfectly happy seeing SXSW not screw with Austin for a week. This guy was probably detained for suspicion of a crime. Austin cops have their problems but are not particularly bad in any regard. Austin is a very safe city and one of the few to not have any "mass shootings" in recent history. Austin's big problem is the gentrification brought on by class conscious geeks constantly moving there.
This is why I dislike Bitcoin. So many better crypto-currencies that do not have the power consumption scale with the value.
POW's waste has always disturbed me. If BTC was inherited as the global store of value it would just help destroy with planet with the emissions required for security.
I spent way too much of my life writing a poker bot at one point. I became disheartened as players were getting better and poker clients changed. HU limit holdem would have been the way to have gone. There is less state to read from the poker client to keep in synch and the ruleset is magnitudes simpler.
User records can still be created and indexed locally, but the actual authentication requires using a trusted 3rd party that is decentralized and can not readily be compromised.
Unlike Microsoft or many other solutions. Although I agree about adoption this is a step in a new direction.

You can create a brain key and have the private key based off that. It is supported by Bitshares but requires advanced CLI usage.
Blockchains make a decentralized service do authentication. Anything that is centralized is easier to MITM. SQRL may very well have a better user experience but it doesn't appear to be solving the same problem.
