I think the idea itself isn't worth much intrinsicially--there are indeed infinitely decent ones out there. But the idea directly fuels passion, which is extremely valuable.

I totally agree with this. A good co-founder is way more important than a few more equity points because it was your idea. It might be different if you've spent 6 months on your own building it, though.

I disagree about the dedication--I wouldn't even bother working with a cofounder who wasn't as dedicated.

Perception matters more when we're talking about something that involves emotion. Sure, it rains more in inches in NY, but not in a depressing, all day, every day sorta way. Sorry, I just have to be annoyed at the Seattle rain.

Its sad that MS and Intuit totally missed the boat on providing a service like this. User's fall over themselves signing up for 'free' services like this when really they are signing themselves up to be marketed to. Brilliant.
