Even the standard RSI prompt will be like (or probably already is): "Improve yourself, make some breakthroughs, think really hard and don't give up until you are improved and make no mistakes."

Eventually there will be an AI that will be able solve those sorts of questions as simply stated, like "cure all human diseases. also, make no mistakes!".

I think a lot of it is customer service. If you work in ML you probably have some NVIDIA engineer's number in your phone. NVIDIA is really good at reaching out and making sure their products work for you. I am not a Torch maintainer but I am sure they have multiple NVIDIA engineers on speed dial that can debug complicated problems gratis.

Obviously this conflict didn't start with the 1967 borders. Was the situation peaceful before 1967?

The lack of working Iron Dome would mean that Israel would have to go on a big offensive. The lack of US aid will elevate Israel's war posture, not decrease it. People seem to keep forgetting this is an existential war for Israel, there is no clear end goal for Israel's enemies besides its destruction. Of course Israel will never "give up", give up what? Its existence?

It's really not the same thing. Jews have a very long history of being oppressed by Muslims and Christians.

I disagree as an American who moved here. Many things are closed on Shabbat, including public transport! Nobody is driving on Yom Kippur. There is nothing like that in the world. Also that what in the diaspora we consider religious holidays are national holidays here. Israelis are used to all this and consider it part of their national culture, so maybe religious is not the best word. The Jewish identity has a big national component. Hilonim might not define themselves as religious still possess a profound Jewish identity which can come off as a religious identity to an outside observer.

Israel has amongst the highest life expectancies in the world and without the similar healthcare costs of other countries.

Driven especially by having the second most happiest youth. For one, Israel is an advanced country with mostly sunny weather. But the edge in my opinion is military/service culture produces a sense of self-actualization in the youth that is lacking in much of the West. Religion also makes people happy, and Israel is a pretty religious country.

I read this a lot, and it sounds intuitive on the surface. But I don't understand how it's justifiable. For example, all that exists in the Universe is a result of the application of very simple rules. It would make sense that information is not what is important towards intelligence and complexity, but computation. It ought to be possible to create a superintelligence with a few bytes of training data, given enough compute.

Intuitively, training a simple enough linear statistical model with its own output should be a NOP. But LLMs are anything but simple models, so I think the non-linearities may be synthesizing new useful information. Similarly to how all of maths can be synthesized from a few basic axioms with enough intelligence or computation.

Even so, I don't think there is any evidence that LLM performance degrades when it is trained on its own output, and there is no intuitive reason it should.

But even so, the human picks the prompts and only publishes the AI outputs they think read nicely. There is information gain even in that.

As an employee, you are essentially a business owner with one customer. Your customer can cut you off at any time with a 3 AM e-mail, even if you pour your heart into your work. You lose access to it too. You own nothing, any thing you do, your customer owns 100%. There is no intellectual property of yours it's all theirs. Owning a business is super hard and you won't make as much money until you sell, if you are lucky to sell. But, being an employee is even more crazy.

I disagree. There is a ton of money to be made. Advertisements can be even more lucrative, we just have to rethink the whole idea of advertisement. Imagine the chat bot as a digital salesperson, but for literally everything. It can even be optimized in a manner that if a user asks for too much work that doesn't involve selling you products (eg. writing essays) it can go "I'm Sorry Dave, but you need a ChatGPT Premium Subscription(tm) for that."

As far as computational costs. These chat bots are not remotely maximally optimized. Sure it costs more to run but it is still on the order of pennies per user per day.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. It's like the author picked a font/CSS combo to simulate a book with horrible typesetting.

I don't see this working for Getty but it will be interesting to see. Israel and the EU have preemptively determined that the use of copyrighted data to train ML models is almost always fair use, and I believe the Authors Guild case in the USA also sets strong precedent there. That really leaves the UK, and they are likely to go with everyone else.

It's way harder to scam people with AI/ML stuff compared to crypto since it fundamentally doesn't involve transfers of large sums of money. Well perhaps venture capitalists, but it's their job to be able to tell the real from the fake. The hype around AI is well deserved though.
