Oh dear they made a terrible mistake right from the start. > The goal of Search has always been simple: to help you ask anything on your mind

No. The goal of search is to find websites that match the text of the search term you put in. When they started to think they were "answering questions" is when google search started to become useless.

Vulkan is definitely a major pain and very difficult to learn... But once you've created an init function, a create buffer function, a create material function etc which you do once you can largely then just ignore it and write at a higher level.

I don't like Vulkan. I keep thinking did nobody look at this and think 'there must be a better way' but it's what we've got and mostly it's just learn it and write the code once

his will allow you to distribute your creations to a limited number of devices without going through the full verification requirements.

Sorry, *allow*? ALLOW?

I'm sorry. My device. My software. My customer or friend. You don't have the right to insert yourself into the process. Very kind of you to ALLOW me to do something you have no involvement in whatsoever.

Like everything google do the real reason for the plan is to let google insert themselves unwanted into someone elses business so they can extract money from other people's work.

I would bin my android phone now if the alternatives weren't even worse,

Sometimes it's just wrong. An old one :-

"It is now safe to turn off your computer"

Awesome I'll go turn it off then, it's just across the room from this one that isn't mine that I'm currently shutting down

I understand why the presumption was there.

If it's not then every single case of tax evasion people would claim that they had paid and the computer must have lost the payment. Every single traffic camera offense would be contested. Every time you didn't have a train ticket people would claim the computer lost it. And so on.

And there would be months and months of delays if every time it had to be proved beyond a doubt that the equipment was working fully in that case out of all proportion to the risk of there actually being a problem.

However clearly there does need to be a way to challenge the presumption too. Of course just assuming equipment is working is entirely unfair.

After a brief look at the article it looks a reasonable weakening of the presumption which allows the court to consider and reject a challenge when they think fit according to the court rules (to be established) Pretty much like any other form of evidence.

I may not have read the release notes etc properly but I'd been using this with the most recent updates of clion and assumed it was just a new feature being added.

I recently renewed my subscription in part because this looked interesting. I kind of regret that now.

I had assumed that the subscription entitled you to all of clion and other ides, not just part of them and other features would be an addition charge.

I have one of their cheapest dedicated servers and a Sunday evening a few weeks ago the hard drive died.

I put in a ticket and within about half an hour they had installed a replacement disk. I then had to reinstall everything because I'd messed up my raid config but that was totally my fault not theirs.

I was very pleased with that efficiency on what is a very cheap server.

I use signal as my SMS program and a few people who have signal. if I can't use it as my SMS program I'm not going to keep using it for the handful of people who have signal and will likely just go back to SMS for everyone.

oh well

I really like zig and think it is potentially a great language. I also used D a little in the past too, but somehow drifted away but some of the comments here make me want to revisit it

Great we have many good languages to choose from

I have a visa credit card and received this email. I don't want to use my debit card with amazon particularly.

You get a few added protections by purchasing with a credit card, and a mistake can't drain my current account in the same way as it could with a debit card, plus I get the benefits of a month or two credit for "free".

If I'm "forced" to use my debit card, I'll have to for essential purchases but this means that I likely won't be buying much more from amazon in the immediate future where I can find an alternative.

This is if everyone is equally likely to spread the virus.

Probably 20% of people are responsible for 80% of infections. (People who work in shops or public places, people in large extended families, people who socialize a lot).

If you can identify and vaccinate those people it will be much more that 20% effective. (It might be hard to identify those but it's probably easy to identify people at low risk of spreading it and infer)

I'm in the UK and I had a good level of sedation for mine. I wasn't even asked, just told that was standard.

I wasn't knocked out but I might as well have been as I didn't feel any pain and kept kind of drifting off half to sleep. It was completely fine and I'd not worry at all about getting it done again.

I don't agree with most of these. As an older British person, I say try going back to 1970's Britain and see if you think things worked better then. They didn't. There is an awful lot that could be improved for sure, but overall things are going pretty well in my opinion.
