I like that sentiment and fully agree regarding YouTube. Unlike Facebook, it's still possible to tune your feed to your exact interests. I have never had a better experience with any video medium, neither linear TV, nor streaming, than I have with YouTube right now.
you really underestimate the will of people to not change anything that annoys them about their OS. they will click 1 million times a popup away before even considering that it could be resolved indefinitely by an option change. i think Apple's system works well to keep the average user safe.

not necessarily. i often prompt Claude in German and then see the reasoning happening in English. of course it will eventually reply in German, but that does not mean that the tooling in the background was using German.

they obviously want to get a good ROI on their stock holdings and try to convince potential buyers that the company is amazing and just held back by their CEO (which definitely is not the only problem that Peloton has)
"healing" might be the most fitting description I could come up with as well for the effect his movies have on me. there is just something very special about his depiction of the world via animation. and if you look at his story boards you will also immediately notice that it's truly his vision which drives these movies and makes them so special. it's no reproducible. truly one-of-a-kind and a generational talent.

Completely agree. It's always nice to give back to the community, but nobody will bat an eye if you cover your costs.
on top of that you will also filter out applicants who show some red flags when they not immediately know the answer to a problem. it's absolutely okay to not know everything. but there is a huge difference in how people communicate their lack of knowledge.
This is probably also down to your character. When I was working as a consultant for a big SaaS company I felt like the occupation really attracts a certain type of overly confident people who also like the attention. I'm 100% sure that everybody there had these blank spots in their knowledge which would potentially result in feeling stressed or dishonest when talking to the customer. Some people are just better selling their blank spots.

Also in Germany police will never show up with a gun already in hand. I don't know the exact code of conduct they have but there are probably a few steps of deescalation before a gun is even drawn.
Perhaps I do regret taking so long to realize the sense of purpose and mission died when Emerald Sea started and good projects (reader, google talk, code search) were being canabalized to prop up a pipe dream that was never going to work.

True, but the difference is who's carrying the financial risk of the buying the car. Right now it's the individual consumers, who are mostly forced to do so, because better alternatives are not available.
car-sharing already exists on a large scale in German capitals. you can park and pickup cars from e.g. Sixt or Share Now everywhere within a marked area. the business model for owning and maintaining a big fleet is already there.
i'm not sure if they operate in the classical sense of a company with a budget. i see them more as a research facility with huge interest from the military and law enforcement complex.
