definitely. I got ad blitzed the last two days by "wow" YT videos which I admit is why I even ended up clicking through todays "bot news" to this site. It's been uber hyped with marketing strategy for sure, its only coz it was OSS I paid attention but was surprised by the marketing for OSS since that doesnt usually happen.
I still really dont see how solar or wind power the future needs at all. surely nuclear is the only solution longer time. obviously it has to be made safe but why are wasting so much time and money on solar and wind that are demonstably not good for the environments they go into. at scale that is going to be felt because no, actually deserts are not "just empty spaces doing nothing" they have a huge knock on effect when changed either life within them, or how they feed the surrounding non-desert environments. Why is nuclear still the bogeyman when the sun is a nuclear event. cut out the middle man. surely.
all the problems come back to one thing: governments.
this thing is great. you got a version that can run as a vst or plugin?
man I love this. want for local use.
saying no to AI is a great way to become the third world
yea but that isnt why they are doing it. they dont gaf about kids, they want total control of the populace online behaviour and this is steps in that direction.
what fascinates me most, is when people dont realise this.
testing ground for whats coming out of Europe.
the most annoying part of all of this is that the people voted for it by voting Labor again. we are fkd.
US is full of shitty corporates
yea, I dumped react for nextjs, and then dumped nextjs for eleventy. never been happier.
I take back my previous comment since I can't now edit it. I was wrong. I think the approach makes sense. There is nothing wrong with getting paid by commericial interests. Its the difficult side of FOSS where finding balance between the two worlds is kind of hard to achieve in a perfect way.
after further consideration, I actually think I am wrong in this case. It's really just looking for fair payment in exchange for work provided to those that are commercial interests or who can afford to pay it. Which is totally fair and my point doesnt apply here.
First Yahoo did Yahoo Serious, then Yahoo got did
Yea that is actually more a symptom of post-war generations, so isnt exclusive to OSS. Ask any employer how its going with their new young staff members.
but what I see causing far more problems in the OSS community is greedy patreon gatewallers who poach all they can from the devs, then put it behind a patreon wall and charge money for it. Them and corporate swooping in are a bigger problem than whining on a github issues board.
I see what you did there
In 2008 when the GFC every company we worked IT for on contract fired their IT staff first. Two weeks later, we had bonanza period right through into the next year. They realised the hard way that those lowly cheap IT staff were quietly keeping them afloat. We charged a lot to fix their problems they created because their CEO thought IT was a waste of money.
This will prove security in IT coding is necessary, so enjoy watching the drama unfold.
IT security bonanza time. It wont be long.
a few more of these incidents and they'll care a lot more
in my day we used pigeons
maybe its a double double triple bluff
pull back the layers. This is the usual masking of the facts. A rose by any other name... is after money.
FOSS is destroyed the moment that is introduced to the mix. Its like political sells - begin pushing a small degree, they wont notice the temperature as it rises over time until its closed source and corporate.
This is how you kill off FOSS, or your project. "corporate creep" I call it.
so "consistent character" is just marketing hype then, not really possible?
they will, presumably. dev model will be a reduced version for open source.
only when you arent looking
ollama. download a few models. bobs your uncle. simple as.
better still you can the use python to call it with langchain chatollama and build anything you want with a little help from claude and chatgpt or codeqwen if you want to do it all locally.
absolute AI don. impress the ladies with that one, you'll be beating them off with a stick when they see it in action.
just need plenty of VRAM after that.
ironic, because crabs remind me of bad choices made when drunk involving aliens
"heard a story" her whole life was dedicated to meditation practice so I doubt it happened in a night. a lot more context required to make that claim. and if you look at her history she did the long yards in retreats. no short-cuts, much as people want to think there are.
exactly. I was a decade skilled in Vipassana and thought I could do the jhanas in an afternoon. took me two years. This guy is talking baloney if he says 20 hours and he nailed them. but this is normal in todays culture of instant gratification. people like to claim expertise while selling dog sheet dressed up as cat sheet.
yea, intellectualised spiritualism is just intellectual meanderings
lol, aspergers et al, are the opposite to good at concentrating.
