I don't know about the US, but where I live speed camera are relatively large bright colored boxes with reflective stripes on the side of the road, with mandatory "speed camera ahead" warnings.
Most of them are empty but people unfamliar with the place will usually slow down.

AFAIK YaCy "peers" are just instances of solr doing search/indexing on their own (as set by the user) and the "distributed search" page only redirects the user to one of the available peers with external port open, not much p2p going on.

Looking at something like gsmartcontrol I can only spot the few icons being different than the shell32 ones, so it's still more consistent than most commercial software.
I purposefully ran btrfs on a malfunctioning drive for over a year (kernel 3.12, only metadata dup), much more reliable than ext4 which would lock up the entire filesystem on read/write failure and often go read-only, with btrfs the only visible signs of malfunction were dmesg and the scrub log.
Also been using it as / since 2012 with no issues.
I don't really see the problem with cars, none of the important parts require time
more conservative in future projections and less price sensitive than consumers.
Which means that if you need some replacement part in the future it's going to cost even more.
