I don't know about the US, but where I live speed camera are relatively large bright colored boxes with reflective stripes on the side of the road, with mandatory "speed camera ahead" warnings.

Most of them are empty but people unfamliar with the place will usually slow down.

potential long term safety

Some of the older ones near me have already been vandalized by woodpeckers

Yeah, until a few years ago when they started doing things like

- Automatically upgrading devices to Win10

- Announce that they will keep adding upgrades to win10 instead of creating new releases

- Office 365

- Require win10 to develop for windows phone 10

and important software companies like adobe/autodesk moving to subscription model isn't gonna help.

Swap is activate pretty late in at 5:59 and you can clearly see there isn't much disk activity going on.

A barebones debian installation should be using < 50Mb at boot, so a custom gentoo could be <40Mb

iMac Pro's T2 chip 9 years ago

The T2 is responsible for controlling the iMac Pro’s stereo speakers, internal microphones, and dual cooling fans, all by itself.

So it's just a fancy Super I/O chip

Hmm, reducing the need for long lasting and easily recyclable paper by replacing it with mostly-plastic stuff (including packaging) that becomes obsolete in less than a decade?

Since size isn't much of a constraint it probably uses electromagnets instead of rare earth magnets as fitted on cars.

Also trains have been doing it for decades.

I don't understand what the fuss is all about, last time I tried AdNauseum it barely detected and clicked very few Ads, maybe one or two on really ad-heavy popular websites, and many issues on github confirm that its detector is quite finicky.

I had couple of games installed on a symbian phone (200Mhz ARM) using "AR" almost a decade ago (a table tennis one and a virus catcher thingy), they were a bit laggy but that was because without onboard sensors they had to track movement using only the camera and at the same time push video plus overlay to the display.

So, not really impressed by pokemon go.

Looking at something like gsmartcontrol I can only spot the few icons being different than the shell32 ones, so it's still more consistent than most commercial software.

I purposefully ran btrfs on a malfunctioning drive for over a year (kernel 3.12, only metadata dup), much more reliable than ext4 which would lock up the entire filesystem on read/write failure and often go read-only, with btrfs the only visible signs of malfunction were dmesg and the scrub log.

Also been using it as / since 2012 with no issues.

more conservative in future projections and less price sensitive than consumers.

Which means that if you need some replacement part in the future it's going to cost even more.

How new? 14 yo Miele washer never had an issue.

no filter cleaning for first 5 years!

That's pretty disgusting for something you use to eat.
