The real issue here seems to be the forest fires that disturbed the wolves’ equilibrium.

They might have some success because they put a slick interface over a shoddy backend, like Robinhood making a nice UI while farming out the actual clearing house work to a third party because they don't understand it.

I hear you on subscriptions rubbing you the wrong way. Hear me out, though. This is a bootstrapped team that builds and supports apps that empower you, the individual. Your data resides in plaintext and you can use your own sync server.

Not everything needs to be a subscription, but I don’t mind paying a few dollars per month to support the team.

Yeah, I’m convinced that the concentration of THC found in products these days is unhealthy. I’m a weed user myself, but since legalization I haven’t had a great experience due to the high THC contents.

There's an assumption you're making, which is the current model of cities, ie. a dense downtown area, is the right model.

This wouldn't be the case if we optimized for the right set of constraints - all of the places you mentioned being in walking distance. If there were more restaurants in the neighborhood, I'd eat out thrice a week at the very least.

And if they profited from it, isn't that enough? There's a market, however small, and they produced enough. I would argue that TE knows its customers really well.

My counterpoint to this is: it's worth it to regret the last few years than to regret it an entire lifetime. I know I'll regret kids.
