Definitely an old article but a lot is still moving along in the DoD cloud native space. The article mentions Platform One, which has done a lot to provide open source resources for those using k8s within the DoD community.

There was a decent number of people who left Platform One and started Defense Unicorns. If you are interested in disconnected k8s deployments, checkout their open source project Zarf. - https://zarf.dev/

I'm not sure where you got this fact, but HTV-2 had two independent RF communication systems and flew close to Mach 20.

I do agree with you that the Air Force wants hypersonic flight vehicles. Looks like air-breathing hypersonics are the priority.

Thanks for sharing the video. Yeah, while its not Falcon there are tons of classified launches coming from the Cape. Do you remember if the vehicle was flying south or east?

There as yet to be a third flight. DARPA is surprisingly open about the Falcon HTV-2 test flights. The releases have included more info that I would have expected.

DARPA was actually live tweeting the 2nd flight.

The "gradual wearing of the vehicle's skin" is called is called ablation.

Its a standard way both hyper sonic and reentry vehicles manage heat. Basically the skin boils off creating a pressure wave that the vehicle flights behind.
