We face so many issues because when it comes down to it, humans spend most of their time in very cold, disconnected working environments that are designed to break your soul and turn you into a drone.

I think what should be remembered is that swdev is a high demand job, and you should have high demands and standards of yourself and your needs.

I think that archlinuxs advantage is that it's minimalistic, the philosophy is simple, you know what is running on your computer and generally why.

Tinkering with arch itself isn't that time consuming because the package management is so incredibly good, along with the AUR and wiki. These are invaluable.

I really do think the difficulty is overhyped though, it's really not hard at all.

I think Germany has their Pfand (plastic/glass deposit) system working really really well, although admittingly the plastic gets incinerated. I don't know why more countries don't adopt these methods or similar. Homeless people pick them up, and get 25c for it, then the bottles are washed and reused. Fantastic. We should invest in optimising these ideas so they become more ubiquitous and cheaper than plastic.

In my neighbourhood car2go are the most likely to be recklessly driving and harassing people in the streets. They should be tightening their policy not loosening it.

Australians don't share the same political will and motivation as the Germans. By large we are a politically apathetic country with no strong leadership or vision for the future. We don't value personal liberties and personal freedom because we don't understand what it means not to have them. We would rather be bubble wrapped and protected by the state than exercise personal responsibility.

Oh please, Apple is a hardware company and that's why their profits don't require the exploitation of user data, otherwise they would be doing it. I mean, they exploit the natural resources of the planet and 3rd world slaves to make completely unserviceable devices ridden with planned obsolescence, so why wouldn't they exploit your user data if they needed to?

I'm not saying that other tech companies are any better, I'm saying that Apple, being the richest and most successful, should be pioneering change in the tech sector on all fronts, but most importantly social and environmental.

If I was you, I'd return the computer and get a refund , purchase a second hand laptop, 2015 MacBook Air or maybe a ThinkPad and wait for a year or two. Apple have legit gone downhill and your better off with something a little older but tried and battle tested.

Older MacBook Airs are excellent machines.

xrandr is your friend

T480s seems like a more balanced machine than the carbon imo. Xps have quality control issues.

Whilst I tend to agree, it's pretty shocking how easy it is to access high fidelity extreme content.

I grew up with dialup modems, so accessing this content wasn't particularly easy or quick. Today, 2 clicks and you have children (and adults) terrified at what they have seen.

The internet has changed a lot, the speed, popularity and economic prospects make it very popular for everyone. Because of this more standardized pornography controls are needed. Not only to protect children, but also to stop human trafficking and abuse.
