I really wish node would ship with Yarn instead of NPM. Every serious js project these days already uses it.

The beta seems pretty good, but after noticing some bugs im reminded again of one of the reasons I quit using Firefox in the first place: Tabs look fucked up on MacOS and some Linux themes, a fix exists, but it's been pushed back to version 58 even though 57 is still in beta. If you don't prioritize user experience in a web browser, then what's the point?

From the article it sounds like they're more concerned with trying to get people turned on too long running original series cash cows than showing them good suggestions anyway. their Black Mirror = Luke Cage suggestion example is laughable.

I think the right to free speech ends when it becomes threats of violence and white nationalism has gotten to that point.

the problem is that sometimes allowing one person free speech has the effect of silencing others. looking at history and the current political situation in the us, I think allowing neonazis free reign to express themselves does far more to stifle free speech than desiring censoring them does because of the threats of violence, both explicit and implicit, laced throughout everything they say and do.

Yes. Drivers tend to prefer Lyft but I'd still sometimes use Uber since I didn't have to worry about tips. Now that Uber no longer differentiates itself in that way I may as well just use lyft all the time.

You see this sentiment ALL the time in food services. Wait staff or pizza delivery guys always bitch about "cheap" customers instead of the reality that their boss lies about prices and then skims it out of their paychecks when people don't pay the "real price" of the food.

Potentially still an issue if drivers can see if you tip or not (with some services, such as Postmates, Amazon Prime Now, they can) and give riders who don't tip 1 star or something.

This was basically the only reason I ever used Uber instead of Lyft. Now I'll just use Lyft 100% of the time since drivers seem to like them better anyway.

for all the problems I have with Microsoft and some of their other products, I really have to say that the typescript and vscode teams are doing a phenomenal job. Every release is a vast improvement over an already great set of tools. don't think I've been as excited to see new release announcements since the early days of Firefox.

It's something only the fabulously wealthy can say. For almost everyone else, even if money doesn't directly make you happier, it removes the vast majority of barriers to attaining happiness (though clearly not all of them). I know I'm much happier now that I make six figures and don't have to worry as much about medical bills, rent, food and so on and have disposable income to direct into new hobbies I couldn't have afforded before (fishkeeping and hydroponics in my case).

Never been a fan of Unity, glad they're dumping it and finally going back to something that works.

turning off the light seems easier and more thorough to me.
