in the case of mainframes the main reason would be that nobody wants to learn cobol anymore and maintainers of legacy code are litarally dying out.

as someone who lives in a city with (imho) one of the best public transport systems, i still like to use scooters for travels where public transport either can't provide an easy way to get to the destination and/or the wait times are longer than the travel itself. usually, i just use my bike, but there are still situations where an e-scooter is just an insanely practical choice.
couple of questions to that:
* You can win by getting every contract reviewed, or by just signing them blindly
could you elaborate on that? not sure i understand
* Keep your SOWs vague
that can help you or hurt you, right? i'm working at a big consulting firm and our motto is to write the SOWs as explicitly as possible to prevent scope creep.
* Don’t do conferences/conventions
why? isn't that a perfect way to stay up to date and network?
