In 2012 Mochizuki claimed to have proved the abc conjecture by developing a new branch of mathematics. He was a respected mathematician, but the theories he had developed were so complex no one could determine if he was correct. It took six years until two number theorists dissected the proof and found a fatal flaw in it.

I don't think this is correct. Meta and Google don't sell direct access to your data. They sell advertising targeting you, based on your personal data.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to sell users email address to a data broker under GDPR.

My intuition is that a properly sharded database will perform faster-or-same as a non-sharded one in all scenarios.

This is workload dependent, if your queries only go to one shard, this is likely true. But if you have cross shard queries, then it’s no longer true.

I don’t really know to what extent AI is going to take over. But crypto is a Terri comparison, it didn’t really solve any problems. There’s nothing you can do with a blockchain that’s you couldn’t already do before.

The potential with Chatgpt if it can be refined is wild.

There are now college professors floating the idea that pedophilia ought to be socially acceptable - they are just misunderstood people that see beyond age or something like that

There have been people floating these ideas for decades. It’s not catching on now.

Sure, you can freeze and unfreeze an organ. But that doesn’t work with the brain the electricity and the connections between the neurons are you. Cryogenic freezing will never work, until the structure of the brain can be preserved. All current methods kill the brain. It’s expensive snake oil.
