Also, how can it be surprising that a brain-related phenomenon is not well understood?

I mean, I can think of a few brain-related questions with no good answers:

- What is consciousness and how does a brain become conscious?

- How and why is one specific consciousness attached to one specific brain (& body)? Why am I controlling my body and not yours?

No. I created an app in one of these (a year ago). I have 5 serious competitors. Each are decent apps that have been in the game longer than mine - mine is not necessarily better, just with a slightly different angle.

It has about $3.5k MRR, is still growing and I spend maybe 5-10 hours a month on it.

Also, I had no brand before that.

"the value I get out is worth more than the data I put in". And that's a perfectly valid view.

Sure. But that is only a valid view if the seller of services is transparent about the price.

Currently, I have absolutely no idea what I am paying to use Google.

The difference is in Facebook amplifying the content's reach just because it is controversial and generates interactions.

Most serious media outlets care about the truth of the content they share. Facebook simply does not.

In Denmark you are not entitled to a full salary during your leave. You are entitled to around 2k€ per month from the government (if you qualify).

However, it is a quite common employee benefit, that the employer pays full salary for part of or for the entire parental leave. The employer is then reimbursed from the government for the first 2k€ every month.

Nothing prevents you from quitting when you get back from parental leave. Except that you probably already have a lot on your mind with a little child - why add the extra pressure of switching jobs?

I don't think OP is step 1. OP is not arguing against testing, although the title could lead one into thinking that. OP is arguing for better, more reasonable testing.

Your points are fine, but I do not see how they apply to the blog post.

Overall, the blog post says, unit tests take a long time to write compared to the value they bring - instead (or also) focus on more valuable automated integration tests / e2e tests because it is much easier than it was 10-20 years ago.

It matters because they need to make it very explicit to newcomers that this is not your normal inbox.

I think they should create a way to rename the Imbox though, so that when people get it, they don't have to look at the weird "typo" anymore.

I choose to trust MS are using the telemetry for improving VS Code, which I genuinely love, and accept the "risk" that MS somehow abuses the telemetry. I see this risk way lower than e.g. Google or Facebook abusing data they can collect about me.

Build stuff 6 years ago

The "simple group projects" we made during my 5-year degree were the result of 3-5 people putting in ~200 hours each (over 4 months). They were of higher quality, better designed, tested and documented than most I have encountered in the industry now 5 years later.

I would not say that I am much better technically now, than I was 5 years ago. Much of what I have learnt in the industry is about coping with working in an office, having pointless meetings, doing design by committee, etc.
