I just tried to use go111, but I get the following message:
[7] Access Not Configured. Cloud Build has not been used in project <project> before or it is disabled. Enable it by visiting https://console.developers.google.com/apis/api/cloudbuild.go... then retry. If you enabled this API recently, wait a few minutes for the action to propagate to our systems and retry.
So go111 cannot be used without Cloud Build, for which I have to activate billing?
About 6 hours of heavy use.
I replaced it myself. Actually, I didn't bother to ask Dell for support ;-)
Regarding their general commitment to linux support: frankly, I don't know. Everything just worked out of the box (besides the Broadcom WIFI, which gave me a hard time), so I have not spent much time to investigate this further.
Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition (2015). Had to replace the Broadcom WIFI with an Intel one. Works perfectly well with Ubuntu 15.10.

Yeah, i.e. DE-CIX is constantly hitting the 4 Tbps barrier for quite some time now and is trending towards 5 Tbps.
No matter if he's right or not: it can't hurt to set up an additional firewall. TR-069 is scary enough.
He surely just forgot to mention that Google allegedly payed 25 million € to Eyeo GmbH, the company behind Adblock Plus, in order to participate in the "acceptable ads" program, a "feature" which is turned on by default and allows users to "surf more comfortably". And that he is (or at least was) one of the directors.
I'm most certain that there are people out there who would call this business model "blackmailing", but I could also be wrong.

I know that the American People are heartly and cordial. But killing and spying in the name of freedom isn't acceptable.
American people don't deserve agencies like the NSA or the CIA.
I hope that there are many freedom fighters like Snowden to come.
