None of their engineering staff have anything visible on their GitHub accounts - not even a project that they got two lines into and then threw away, which I honestly accept as a sign of baseline competence these days
As much as I want to contribute to FOSS I have kids to take care of, and want to parent. While I’m not star dev, I am certainly competent.
That is lab equipment, of course it’s going to be horrendously expensively. Look how much a pack of bolts costs.
Why is this on HN? This seems like a scam in a sense. Look at the “pressure hull” compared to the numerous openings cut into the outer hull for party decks or whatever, they don’t really connect and the interior space is made to look much bigger than it is. How are they going to constantly dewater the ship when there is water leaking in everywhere? What happens if someone forgets to close one of the 100 exterior openings?
Maybe these are just renderings to market the idea, but I would have no confidence I would get what was advertised if anything.
Then there is the practical and comfort aspect that other people have mentioned.
Is this cosplay for DrEvil?
Not surprised due to effects of scale, but who cares, only a small fraction of the population, gros their own food as a hobby. It’s a statistical blip.
Why don’t we focus on how awful return to office is for the environment? If we were serious about saving the plant this would be everywhere.
