Really enjoyed watching https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2400291/ about the race.
There's also a lot of beautiful ultra running content on YouTube, for instance https://youtu.be/NDZdsqbcGTU (also about the Barkley marathons). I have no ambition to run any ultra distances but watching some of these videos is inspiring for some reason.
I wondered the same, eventually found https://bekk.christmas/ with some more information.
I own a HHKB[1] and while very pleasant to type with the fact that the function keys are on another layer can be cumbersome in some IDEs. In IntelliJ IDEs you have Ctrl + F9 to build (or something like that) which means pressing Ctrl + Fn + 9. Maybe the experience can be improved with better placement of the Fn-key (which on the HHKB is in the lower right corner).
Reading the comments about experiences with split and/or ergonomic keyboards makes me want to try some other variants.

I've been using Vim and Vimwiki https://github.com/vimwiki/vimwiki to scratch a similar itch. I wish I was more consistent in using it though.
Vimwiki in a repository makes it easy to share between workstations (and different platforms).
Haven't used it for communication but I've been using it as a means to store encrypted backups with a cloud provider.
