I think most people are missing the point here. MoviePass has many ways to monetize from begin to end. It currently has more then 1.5 million subscribers & growing very fast (fastest subscription service growth ever, even faster then netflix). Most people miss the opportunities MoviePass has. It will control the demand & distribution of movies through its subscribers. Movie theater goers have been declining year over year and MoviePass will help reverse this.

It currently makes money by

a) subscriptions $9.95/month b) $2-3 rebate per ticket contracts with about 1000 theaters (5 new contracts a week are signed) c) 20-30% of concession revenue with about 1000 theaters (5 new contracts a week are signed) d) Bought "America Animal" movie rights for North American release at Sundance Festival

The Android Team needs to aim pass the IPhone UX if they plan to win. The Android platform needs to tighten their controls around the UI a little bit more. The very least they can do is make it so that when people look at a smart phone/device, they instantly recognize it as an Android powered device. I think that will help the brand a little bit.

It all depends on the lens that people see through.

I think BP should have dealt with the oil flowing up to the surface first. They should bring in the massive tankers with big vacuums to suck the oil up. This will buy them more time to fix the leaks below.

This is probably the HARDEST part of starting a company. Every startup will go through this phase. Traction is a good sign, ask your partner to keep track of which customers bought and why. Refine your message and focus on those customer profiles so that you get the cream first.

As more customers sign on, the sales will be a little easier. It's like starting a fire from scratch.

Define/Pick ONE core feature of your web application. Make that feature work, no one cares how you do it. Once you are finished with that core feature, use it as a base for all other new features.

An analogy, to create a sculpture of a head. First shape your clay into a ball, now you got your base feature.

I tend to judge people by what they have accomplished. With that said, I tend to favor consistency over a big grand accomplishment. It just show that you have sustaining skills.

It's the knowledge that you've retained from your work at Microsoft that is of importance. Focus on that. Better yet provide some guidance in your domain of knowledge to the hacker community.

I am assuming that it's the public school system we're talking about here. The $20,000 is from our taxes. You can very well choose to stay at home and educate your children yourself and pocket the $20k, if that works for you. In my opinion, we seldom learn everything from 1 or 2 sources. You can provide your offspring with math & science but what if your offspring is also interested in music, language, literature, drama etc.? Or any other subject that is not offered in the school system?

I am just advocating for the child. As parents we're in the best position(mostly) to judge what our children's needs are.

Parents need to take the leadership role in educating their children. Here's a more radical idea. Get rid of the school system and the teacher's union. Give the $19,358 back to the student's family. These families can pool the money to hire their own education facilitator. You get a market driven education system. The best "teachers" will always be in demand and the families can have more choices in their children's learning.
