I totally expected this to be a joke where the site was blank.

I haven't worked with C++ for years, and it's nice to see there really has been some progress improving some of the C++ parts.

It's one thing to just say "here's the ideal". And another to say if you're in a sub-optimal place, "just leave."

But how to change a poor habit place into a good habit place.

I don't think bad habits really go away, they get drowned out by the better habits. I think the same is true of teams. But, IMHE, improvement has been hard to come by.

Being able to have a customer accept what the output looks like and then listening to when the page changes would be great for giving non-technical people control over passing tests.

Here in Colorado we have "actual homeless". Going to a homeless shelter in the winter time provides a great sample. And, there are dangers in those shelters where homeless people are still too scared to stay there.

It's been enlightening to see the surveys of the homeless in my area: who they are, how they got that way, how long they've been homeless.

There are now even prediction models for how unlikely an individual is to be alive in a year if they check 8 of 10 boxes in part of the survey.

The programs I've most been impressed with are the ones creating a stronger resistance layer to falling from having a home to homeless. They save society so much money.

Forming and maintaining relationships, in addition to $, are also important factor. Consider where in your network, homeless people could join and connect with you.

My grad school professor was at a bar with a consultant friend who was trying to find the optimal wiring paths for routing expensive electric cables.

My professor asked for the change in his pocket: they went to the hardware store and got plexiglass, dowel and drill. In the hotel room, the put together a model of the points to connect between the plexiglass sides and dunked it in the soapy hotel tub.

I worked 4 years remote. It was fine.. but I started to feel isolated. I didn't have a lot of remote interaction to explore ideas. I compensated by going to meetups. Eventually, I quit to join a small on-site team. I've like being on site.

Keeps me on a schedule More places to put books Less interruptions by the family. Travelling to and from provides a moment of context switching between being a parent and being a colleague.

in the remote job, we never did video chat. Maybe that would have helped my feeling of isolation, and create a better sense of community.

It's the conversation together about what the next chapter could be and should be that can be really valuable.

I could see OpenDoor working with large companies on relocation outsourcing. An employee needs to move, maybe on condition of hiring, and the guaranteed sale provides the removal of an obstacle to say no I can't move and sell my house... or the discussion really devolves not into schedule but money. If it's not the market rate, the company could pay the difference, or part of it.

For bigger companies, Starbuck, HP(E), IBM, I could see Opendoor simplifying the HR conversations. Especially when companies reorganize and want to move people around.

I switched to Dvorak because of wrist pain. It worked. Of course, that result is confounded with slowing down to learn to type on a new keyboard. That said, I have not had the pain come back.

If you're interested it typing speed, look at plover: http://www.openstenoproject.org/ over 200 words per minute should be achievable. (I've only met users, never tried it myself. I was amazed at their speed.)

I've never found speed to be my issue, YMMV.
