This. Tables are an efficient implementation of general graphs. It’s the best one I know of (unless your graph can be specialized).

Hmm, not really. Whether the kernel is managing memory for processes properly is different than asking whether a reused Postgres connection clears all relevant memory.

But thanks for info about level of issue.

Yes. At my work place a level bump is almost a doubling of comp and the main criteria is being able to be responsible for projects.

Are there people who could do more and are happy where they are at? Sure. But that’s also not going to work for CEO.

really achieved what they did elsewhere due to sheer luck/help

This world view is not falsifiable. Regardless of success you can say it was luck.

But I just don’t understand this. In my work we are constantly giving people chances to take on more responsibility, and often they don’t want to, or it doesn’t work out. Why would you expect that you could drop them in as CEO?

Are CEOs always the cause of success or failure? No. Are they good at avoiding blame? Yes. Are they also extremely skilled and competent people? Yes.

Let me clear up your confusion.

I did not say they wouldn’t used react in the 90s (obviously). Anybody familiar with terminal uis (a technology which did exist) and perhaps any other ui system would not have chosen this design.

And no it’s not just me as evidenced by the many confused comments any time this is brought up.

they are one provider among many. Everybody needs food. But nobody needs that particular farm's food.

As computer hardware has become more capable we should have been able to build even more web applications on a single machine. But there are few people even pushing on that boundary.

Some engineers learned it works fine and are quietly maintaining a stable system well under capacity. Or building the most insane distributed systems ever conceived.

Apply this reasoning to any other industry. Yes the average person is not the judge of the quality of a doctor or engineer. That doesn’t invalidate it. You want a doctor who cares about medicine , not whatever will accomplish a business goal.

Where do you think I should send my bruised bananas to be eaten?

The definition for the largest category is a subjective feeling of not being able to buy all food options you would buy.

The narrow categories which have better defined criteria also include anyone with any administrative dysfunction which limits their ability to plan or navigate serivces. Which is a real and different problem from having edible mass.

To put it another way, almost everything you need to do to survive as an adult in the US is harder than acquiring food. The problems you have in this category are a bottomless pit.

The perfectly good food being thrown away can be given to the hungry

This is incredibly disconnected from the problem. In the US most people in poverty receive food stamps and have preferences about what they like to eat. They want cosmic brownies with their breaded chicken, not your bruised banana.

Total of volume of edible material is a non-issue.
