If people are going to go to the Walmart to buy new games anyway, why wouldn't the indie store them as well? Even if the prices are a little higher, wouldn't the convenience of not having to go somewhere else make up for it?

I understand your sentiment, but if you think that this wouldn't occur in many communities that have a large base of users, you are off base. I don't just mean places like 4chan- have you ever read comments on Youtube videos?
I don't really see how this would define how people see the company behind Justin.tv at all. You would have to find a pretty delusional person to claim that IRC had its reputation sullied by Brandon Vedas when he did the same thing a few years ago.

I'm always amazed how many people buy into that idea- do you really think that Reagan knew all along that it was a ploy to run the Soviet economy into the ground? SDI was a huge wealth transfer to the defense industry. The fall of the Soviet Union (if indeed you see that as a bad thing) had very little to do with a need to increase their military spending to keep par with Reagan.
These books are only slightly better than telling someone to read Who Moved My Cheese or Good to Great.
You should read great books because you want a different perspective and will hopefully be entertained; don't read a book because you think it will make you a better entrepreneur.
The organization by relevance is interesting, but through some test searches I did, the more obscure the search, the less this helps. Basically, for something with a Wikipedia/Facebook/Myspace/official site it looks nice. However, for something less known or employing more vague terms, the results page look like I mistyped a url and ended up on a page parked for typosquatting.
Agreed- remember the release of AOL search data two years ago? That may not be a representative sample, but a large number of those users seemed to have no idea what a search engine's basic function even was.
But if you are a lone suicide bomber, getting caught IS the worst consequence (dying when you explode your bomb is optimal.) Rather than achieving your goal, in the worst case scenario, you're caught and prevented from being able to attempt it again.
The author is absolutely right. The non-dangerous category is part of a knee-jerk reaction to simply "do something" rather than to do something effective.

I guess mirroring the OP, I like this concept behind C02Stats, but I am very curious as to how this is precisely calculated (or even roughly estimated.) Do CO2Stats know the power grid the servers are on? How do they account for the disparity in power usage behind different systems (a mainframe != laptop)? Without having detailed knowledge of a building, how could they possibly know about air conditioning costs or other secondary electricity use (lights, etc)?
