These are hilarious, but I see why they might be rejected.

Probably sufficient to write a test that will break in 5 years - X [days|months] with notes in the test about the problem and how to fix
If you included worldwide, you could probably get pretty low on the low end (not sure you could get to 10K)

ah got it, thanks.
What is the distinction?
Do you mean 150/hr?
I feel like you can tell a lot about a person by observing how they perform their craft. Swinging a hammer probably doesn't offer too much insight when done properly, when its done wrong, feels like a tip of the iceberg situation.
I don't know enough about the boards or how doctors interview, but doesn't this just move the puck in the interview process?
For a lot of the things we build in engineering that kind of qualification would be ludicrous, yet we've created another barrier for a variety of people where there doesn't have to be one.
"Must have Super Engineer Accreditation(tm)" - it'll be the new college degree. How much does it cost to get? How much time? The girl who doesn't need to work can study all she wants and pass without having to do nights and weekends for months / years etc.
I'm curious as to your mentality here? - you make it sound like a real chore to learn machine learning, but also that it's something you want to get into.
I've found that if I want to get into something, it's a real pleasure to research, learn, tinker - that is my entertainment & relaxation.
Accreditation just acts as another "has a college degree" filter. There is already a proliferation of certifications that people can attain if they wish, that may or may not help them in specific instances that try to "give you a minimum level of knowledge", but really that just means the questions you get asked assume you know that - ie they are harder and incorporate your algorithm knowledge, instead of specifically saying "code bubble sort". I don't think that's any better to be honest.
Going on like 8 months, no resolution.
In January, I did receive an acknowledgement there was nothing further for me to do and it was on them.
Pinged last week.

"At my last job, we did X. Therefore X is the one true way to do it."
I mostly see this in younger people, but the number of older people I have seen like this is ridiculous. Boggles my mind (being on the younger side)
It's hard to put a value on the deal [1]. But -
Using the rankings of CA's largest to smallest [2], the first public CA is GoDaddy (W2Techs 2016 Survey), which has a range of services. They show GoDaddy to be 11.8% of the market, with Symantec at 26%. So Symantec is 220% larger. I'm too lazy to estimate GoDaddy's CA business from their financials, I didn't see anything obvious in their financials to make it easier.
GoDaddy's public valuation at this time is 7.27B [3], and if we scale up GoDaddy Market Cap to Symantec's size, and only account 20% [4] to the CA business: 7.27B * (26/11.8) * .2 = ~3.2B (Symantic CA Business)
If we use DigiCert, and try to GoDaddy's market cap down to DigiCerts market share (3.0%) [2]. Then you end up with 7.27B * (3.0/11.8) * .2 = ~370M (DigiCert Current Valuation)
However, DigiCert becomes number two CA provider overnight, to 29%, which rockets their value up (maybe?), by our same math, they are now 245% the size of GoDaddy from a cert perspective, 7.27B * ((26 + 3)/11.8) * .2 = ~3.57B (DigiCert + Symantec Business) [5].
So Symantec ends up with 950m cash and 1.07B DigiCert holdings (3.57B * .3 = 1.07B), or ~1.957B of value.
That'd mean Symantec is taking 2/3rds (~1b hit) - that feels like a pretty solid deterrent?

This could be wildly high.. 5. Normally a combined entity would have duplicative operations and arguably be worth more than their whole, but since these are kind of iffy assets, they probably would be worth less.

"pockets $1B", I think that's it's still over several years, I suspect if they go "bust" they won't have that 1B
It's great you have a signed vesting schedule - I think everybody here is confused by the problem. Nobody has any insight into what alleged deception you are being accused of, and you didn't share (and that's completely fine).
It sounds like the "don't have that kind of time" is specifically because of "We're in talks with (really) big pockets", but again, we have no insight into what those talks might look like.
Disclosure: IANAL, just an asshole.
Is this an acquisition? If so, be really sure they actually want to acquire you, then maybe it's worth just giving the guy his shares to get your deal done (or attempting to negotiation - always negotiate)
Is this an investment? Again, how sure are you they really want to invest, and how long can you live without it? You should talk to your current team and potential investor about possibly fixing the cap table and how you could achieve that (ie cram down the value of the shares and top up current employees)
When I'm in the right (fuck it, even when I'm not), with a preponderance of evidence, I usually tend to not take kindly to people coming after me - at least for a bit, you have little to lose to start the process of going to court - you can always settle between now and then. This is like any other negotiation, his first salvo is give me everything, you're turn to respond in kind with "go fuck yourself because X,Y and Z, and by the way, we will have to counter file as you are causing irreparable harm to our company because of A, B and C".
You can always borrow money over time - ie 10K to start, and see how it goes, maybe you settle and you have to find a way to pay it back, maybe 10K is enough to get the guy to back off.
