I visited NYC and San Francisco. It's appalling and unacceptable in this day and age.

My small northern Minnesota town is far from perfect, but we don't let our neighbors and kids become fent zombies on the main drag. That's not a lifestyle that we want to enable or perpetuate. I do not understand the mental hurdles that Berkley-educated 'scholars' jump through to rationalize letting people suffer the most potent and deadly forms of addiction. The penal system is the last net to catch these people before they die from OD or blood-borne pathogenc or the consequences of criminal activity. And the "empathetic" west coast intellectuals say "legalize the drugs". Absolute lunacy

I think large companies/gov contractors will still prioritize compliance and control systems over DX.

And I believe both Supabase and Vercel run all their services on AWS anyways, so AWS gets paid no matter what.

In case you're curious -- computer scientists have been trying to simulate/predict weather over half a century and it's led to some really awesome math/compsci discoveries.

If you've ever heard of the Lorenz/Butterfly Effect/Strange Attractors, those chaotic systems were discovered because of a discrepancy between two parallel weather simulations. One preserved the original simulation's calculation train while the other started off with simply the previous results (out to like 10 decimals) and suffered from a rounding error and thus both simulations diverged hugely.

Lorenz was trying to simulate weather by subdividing the atmosphere into tons and tons of cubes. Really interesting reading/video watching tbh.

Several years ago, the only way to cancel was over the phone. Hallmark of scumbag business.

Planet Fitness requires in-person or a mailed note for cancellation (unless you “move” to California which legally requires companies to provide online cancellation if you can sign up online)

Analysis paralysis is the bane of my existence.

It's why I couldn't be a productive artist/designer. There are too many subjective and inconsequential decisions to invent.
