drug dealers will continue to sell drugs irregardless of financial stability. when law enforcement defers arrest/prosecution the drug dealing doesn't become less harmful to communities, the opposite is true. look at SF/Oakland. organized rings maximizing profits in retail theft and property crimes. if this is the alternative to broken windows theory of policing then good luck w/ that.

nostr being an offshoot of crypto/bitcoin tech influences the protocol in important ways, like everything crypto/bitcoin you need to read documentation to understand the terminology being used and you need to 'invest' in the culture, which is bitcoin evangelist culture w/ all the baggage.

i fed a few blocks of crows for 4 years. mostly dry cat food. each block had a unique family group and they swoop down in succession, hop over and i'd stand there and watch them eat for a bit. I also saw a crow funeral once and I stopped a crow dive bombing run (on other pedestrians).

I love Beyond Sausages for that very reason. they cook up like a sausage, they even have a sausage like skin. I think its pretty great, although highly processed and not suitable for staple food IMMO.

I much prefer Beyond Burgers as well, and the sausages. I even invested in the company, and it's surprising to me the negative press and Wall St shorting action.

twitter has a social dynamic where opposing interests feed off of each other so you need in-group + out-group. there are psychosocial elements which mastodon does not have as it's more reddit like IMHO. edit: for clarity

re: hard sciences, the scientific community's refusal to accept the covid lab leak hypothesis stands out IMHO. School shutdowns/mask mandates for pre-k and public schools is another politicalized issue.

If we were able to get to the source of the 'trust science' clique, I bet we would be amazed at how uninteresting it all is. grievances about hurt feelings, mental health issues and moral panic.

I'm more concerned that comments critical of anti-racism could be cause for censure in future, ala 'social credit system'. That seems to be a possibility with the internet being locked down, increased censorship, calls for de-platforming 'hate'.

I've read that most mining pools are consolidating now, and if they control a majority of computing power it leaves Bitcoin vulnerable to attack. Or what about the hard fork ? My skepticism is not w/ the tech (which is great) its with Bitcoin adoption by non-tech people who have no protection via regulation.

people should be cautious and imho more importantly, people should be informed and adding processed soy, oils, sodium etc to meat alternatives in hope of reducing price is a horrible solution. If that's the only way we're going to get people offsetting meat consumption its a sad state of affair.
