... prolonged Gulf conflict that at this point seems to serve no point whatsoever for anyone except perhaps Israel.

Dominating most of global oil and gas traffic is indeed very much a point that the US is trying to serve, albeit with arguable success. The same reasoning explains other crazy adventures like Venezuela and Greenland, as well as other more diplomatic endeavors in Panama, Gibraltar and the strait of Malaka.

The notion that the mighty US is going through all this for the sake of another country is bonkers.

I agree with all of that.

However, that’s not to say that many designer jobs will be going away, simply because for many cases, cost beats quality. We’ll just have more things with a much lower quality.

You can compare it with mass manufacturing. While some things are better had than not, even with low quality, we’d probably be better off with some things made to last, in lower quantity. But for 99% of the population, e.g. low quality clothing is the norm.

I don’t know.

With the core programming skills atrophying, who’s going to have the skills to audit AI’s work?

this won't replace Figma or designers

If every designer takes less time to do their job, you need less designers. There’s no getting around that simple math.

These populists, so called leaders, don't represent everyone and are hated by many. In war everyone loses, and you seem to ignore the fact that there are two sides here. Normative people don't wake up in the morning wanting to murder children for fun. Your cartoonish image of Israelis as some kind of horned monsters is ridiculous.

No, these things do not constitute a genocide. Genocide is the purposeful extermination of a people. What you’re describing are other alleged war crimes. While it’s a catchy and horrifying word that’s very useful against Israel, it’s dishonest to use it in this case.

All the things you described are indeed horrifying on their own, and I believe there are cases where Israeli forces did some of these things unjustifiably.

You must be asking yourself what the hell could be justified. Well, I’ve heard first accounts of kids being sent first as scouts in the battlefield, into a kill box, trying to pinpoint Israeli forces. Once the scout goes back and reports on the force’s location, an accurate barrage of RPGs will be shot at them. You can’t go into the kill box to stop them by arresting them. What would you have done? I do not envy the person that has to make that call, they are now scarred for life.

Justified? No? You pick between the life of that kid and the lives of the people under your command. Both choices are bad, this isn’t Hollywood.

Most of what you watch is edited purposefully and doesn’t give you any context for the purpose of recruiting the public opinion. It’s working amazingly.

Israel is interested in the fall of the Iranian regime, a thing that can only happen if the Iranian people will rebel against it. The last thing Israel wants is to have the Iranians rally behind the state’s flag.

Based on this cold calculation, bombing a school full of children would be counter productive, even if you believe the Israelis are just collecting children's blood to make matzahs (passover is just around the corner!).

On a more serious note, do you know the actual source for this claim? I don’t mean the news outlet, I mean what entity gave this to the news outlet.

OP might love tech, but he sure doesn’t sound like he loved the craft.

Describing it as sitting in front of a rectangle, moving all rectangles around is so reductive.

I don’t know… If the company is so healthy and has some nice financial buffer, I would expect the increased productivity due to AI to be used for more revenue generation. So either they don’t know how to translate all the quality hires they got into (enough) revenue, they can’t afford it, or maybe they they hired too fast to maintain quality  That’s my read at least

I did spend quite some time trying to find the original publication to no avail, thank you very much. If it’s so easy, maybe you’ll be kind enough to help me. Just let me know if you find an actual rigorous paper or just an outrage piece meant to horrify everyone.

I am aware of this rhetoric you mention, I hate it myself, but I believe that it’s populist bullshit, just like most things this government is saying, including stuff that doesn’t get worldwide coverage, and are intended to cause outrage and get media coverage. This pattern (sadly) repeats in most western nations nowadays.

If there was ever an actual intent to get rid of the Palestinians, you would get an order of magnitude more dead. The means exist, not the intent.

Love you spouting memes such as “hasbara” instead of responding to the point.

You understand exactly what I mean, yet you try to portray what I said as if I’m alluding to a technicality. If a nation has the means and intent for genocide, you get a genocide. This is not what it is.

Lastly, I’m not trying to show I’m balanced, and neither are you.

In this case, it’s the most inefficient genocide anyone has ever seen.

Instead of looking at the crap that comes out of the mouths of this horrible government, look at what actually happened. Israel had everyone rallied up, yet they were not exterminated en mass like you and other commenters are saying.

The death toll in this war is a result of Hamas and their supporters taking advantage of the population to protect themselves and cause people like you to speak against Israel [1].

It sounds crazy to me, and indeed very disturbing if it was true. However if it was true, I would have known at least one person to fit the image they’re portraying. I know none.

I tried to find the original publication, but all I found was press coverage. Specifically I’m interested in the demographics - who was asked these questions, aside from the religious attributes that they name.
