I agree that we can consume less, it is just a hard policy to push. How will the market be affected? Any politician enacting this change will be hit with the 'destroying the economy'. Is there room for capitalism in that economy? It feels like the idealism wars have doomed us.

OT: I would also prefer a 20 yr old car design then a modern 'smart screens everywhere let the car drive for you because it is safer'. Cars were just finoshed back then, but in comes the age of 'Everything as a service'. Cars today are crap. Maybe in another 20 when they fix the batteries.

The casino is 45m away from a major city, and they have a few routes going through it. It isn't in a big town itself, so I hope they can connect me to another big city from there. Casino-touring here I come.

I was underage when I used it, when the shuttle driver asked if I had the years I asked him if they ID on the shuttle or at the entrance of the casino. I stayed on. EDIT: I guess it does discriminate on age. Having trouble editing OP.

Only free transportation I have come across in the Midwest is Free shuttle to nearby casinos. Now I hope they also have a shuttle or two to the next city center but I have my doubts that I can reach Atlantic City from here. I should try that next spring.

What does lack of further support mean to a user? Will browsers start breaking? Games stop working? I haven't DLed/installed updates on my Win7 for years now, will this be the same?

One is to prevent the whole herd from being infected(eradicated possibly), the other is a sick member to choose their way to treat themselves. Grievance is a part of life, it is sad to see members go, but I can't compare between that and the herd disappearing completely(no one left to grief).

EDIT: also I can't help but feel that this claim puts Chemotherapy on the same level of effectiveness as Vaccines. I think all options should be exhausted before we start claiming chemo to be as miraculous as vaccines are.

That they are but one is nowhere near as dangerous to the herd as the other. I don't see a need to lump these camps together.

Is cancer infectious? How is this anywhere near anti-vaxxers? Don't vaccines mainly exist to treat for something dangerous to the whole herd? Only some small part of the herd even gets cancer.. how is this not discrediting vaccines by even just comparing the two?

It may be Exec culture or just culture in general. We all want to be successful/ better than the competiton. It attracts/feeds our narcissism and eventually gets buried by people who only optimize for profit, success on paper.

This person is already doing something irrational, you can't expect them to do the most rational thing once they find someone inside. If they were inside just to steal, they would have a plan if they find they are not alone. Now GP's situation had someone staring at them in their kitchen. So the assumed thief has not run away yet. More effective since I barely did any regular flossing before. I have(or had) sensitive gums and I would constantly bleed and I never developed a proper technique and habit with regular floss. with this, it feels like everything between the teeth gets flushed. The string floss still gets used when I am out (no more bleeding) but even once I get home I use the Waterpik, and I can still see some bits I missed. This sounds like an ad but I have been super satisfied with a Mornwell wireless oral irrigator. ideal usecase for a wireless charging station, since I always worried about it being wet near wirea with the older ones I had. I am still waiting for something bad to happen to me since this has helped me too much.

the waterpik is the most useful tool I found this decade. I think I have become over-reliant on it. My teeth barely have any space between them, so I always end up tearing the regular string floss, and I would never be able to reach/cover so many parts of the mouth without a waterpik/ water flosser. Had not heard of oil pulling, thanks!

Practice self sufficiency. Stop relying on companies to gather your food, distill your water, even bring the water to your tap. Expect it all to shut off. I agree with the vote counting and I am curious, is there a forum which only shows comments after you have made a comment on the article itself? As long as empty comments and "this" aren't allowed, it can be a good filter for on topic, more organic discussion.

Ah, from the title I thought they figured out how to do it locally on your phone, without being connected to Google. Knowing they are only into making Ad products aka tracking, it would be a shame to get used to such a nice free offering. I have been hearing lots of positive reviews, even from comment boards themselves. It seems like there are some firms that are too good at it. I think the more positive things I end up hearing about someone rich, the worse feeling I get of them, as if they overspent.. the dirtier you are, the more scrubbing you do.

I don't find the hostility to profit absurd. Profit motive also filled the world with crap we don't need. It also accelerated climate change. Through our fossil fuel companies' profit motive. I actually find HN lacking in hostility towards profit, but it seems it's because we selectively choose what to pick up on and remember.
