We don't live in a vacuum and there a reasons why people turn to drug use that the system exacerbates. This doesn't have to be the way. I write documents using typst, with the occasional latex document sprinkled in by necessity. Not everybody needs a WYSIWYG editor. Most of them are WYGIWYG anyway. You're free to use whatever tools you like, but claiming that something is _the_ way would be absurd. And if you like little bloat, a system that just works across many domains, you don't need 100 different "apps" that each try to implement the features you get when chaining together the coreutils.

Vim is my only text editor, I use it for writing everything. Emails, scripts, messages, 100k+ lines codebases, prose, never needed this plugin. One line for 80 char wrap on certain filetypes, and a that is it, never needed such a plugin.

For prose, you can simply hard wrap at 80 (arguably you should), and vim supports this via a single config line. OOTB vim soft breaks anyway and you can navigate between in those broken lines via gj, gk etc.

I have all those "usage scenarios", which are in fact absolute basics and thus it's worth remembering 3 commands. The problem arises when one uses a Desktop environment with a dock and all other bloated nonsense. Maybe computing is solved once people reverse the brain damage inflicted by Windows and MacOS.

I don't know about you, but I have a large selection of 10 bit HEVC movies and series on my system, and hardware decoding for this is pretty nice. Apart from that, videos taken on apple devices use HEVC by default last time I checked. But in the end, it's still not that important probably, doesn't mean that it shouldn't be available/accessible

Function in what context? I have been diagnosed with ADHD at age seven. I have had many checkups and am currently medicated. I can tell you that I wouldn't need to if I didn't have to work a menial wageslave job. Interestingly I can focus perfectly fine when doing interesting stuff without medication and it has always been this way. What you are saying is that there is some proper definition of disorder, which would sensibly be defined relative to some "normal" human baseline. Tell me you know one "normal" human, why you see this person as "normal" and how it would be useful to use this as a reference for the big spectrum of human personality and mental fitness. I can tell you from experience that I didn't need medication when I wasn't forced to attend 12 useless meetings a week, use inefficient and stupid software and one would just let me get my shit done. I have quite a few friends who have had very similar experiences, and the idea of ADHD is just used to pathologize and medicate someone so he can work and be a "positive contributor" to whoever above them. Add here the necessary disclaimer that my experience is not universal and there may be people gravely suffering from it, etc. I do too, even with medication, but at least I can generate some bucks for management.
