Right now systemd, PID 1 won't finish on a Debian 12 (upgraded) which I am slowly debugging. Neither journalctl nor syslog record messages that flash on the screen. Systemd goes into a dark-flash-dark loop. The developer should focus on getting systemd to work right before pointing at others' supposed deficiencies. Software need to handle error conditions and keep on plugging, especially if it replaces init.

Yes, the sender needs the recipient's public key. I did not find any service supporting this. Even Proton Mail (https://proton.me/support/password-protected-emails) writes, "To read the message, they must enter a previously agreed-upon password." Thus, the sender sends cleartext to the email provider, hehe.

Assuming the full license (I omitted about 892 characters) were in the original the derivative work omitting the original notice violates the license. In USA, you register your copyrighted work and can sue for statutory damages.
Patent protects an original idea (reduced to practice) and one precept is that the idea got independently used only after it was disclosed to the public. Obtaining a patent from the PTO is not a trivial matter and then you can sue for your lost profits, damages based on the defendant's profits, or prohibit use by anyone. All of this assumes you really care.
