Regarding playing games - I think it’s a completely different experience from working. Music + visuals (videos, psychedelic trips, etc) or music + exploration (games, hiking, etc) is a great combination because the elements enhance each other to make the total experience even more rich and absorbing. Which is, perhaps, not the right state for programming.

This definitely does not mean what you think it means. Owning a large car for work doesn’t mean it’s utilized as such. I know people who own trucks and large SUVs for work - but it’s “just in case” not because they need additional space on a daily or even weekly basis.

Context matters. It is a non-trivial issue when used in the context of terminating early pregnancy. Manipulating a teenager by telling her that she is a mother and she shouldn’t kill her baby is far more insidious than treating abortion as a women’s health issue, which it is.

The choice of words has a tremendous effect both on an individual and on the society. Ignoring this fact only leads to more misunderstandings.

I am arguing that using more emotionally charged language like “baby” and “mother” in place of a “fetus” and “pregnant woman” is manipulative.

Being pregnant does not make you a mother.

I have been buying $150 jeans most of my adult life and recently read a comment on Reddit that expressed disbelief that someone would pay more than $30 for a pair of jeans.

I don't disagree, just noticed that many comments missed this detail about the feed showing reports for user's favorite trails, not some random irrelevant content.

Not to justify author's UX choices, but he does mention that the feed shows reports from the trails the user follows. It's not a list of random trail reports, there is some logic behind it.

The post is missing the key point entirely. The issue here is not about a "straightforward" vs "less straightforward" UX. The "card" view likely did not work because users primarily wanted to check reports for a specific trail located in a specific area, and not browse through a feed of reports for pleasure. The UX wasn't just not straightforward—it basically did not work for the primary use case.

It would have been more interesting to compare "straightforward" vs "less straightforward" on the map view. E.g. show markers for all trails nearby vs show markers for your favorite trails (similarly to what the "card" view attempted to do).

That’s not exactly the same. How can a user tell who and when (i.e. which version of an upgradeable contract) has reviewed this particular contract? Linux core has a long history and a ton of processes around introducing changes. When I visit a crowdfunding web3 website there is none of that.

Tweets can be deleted though - that’s not an immutable store of data.
