"Beef" was pretty great, I'd recommend that. I'm surprised to see no mention of "The Witcher", though, I figured that would've ranked relatively highly despite the many creative shortcomings of the show.
It's a standardized file that describes a 3D scene (with references to assets, transforms, etc). It makes asset pipelines easier to spin up and iterate on, but I don't think anything about USD specifically will further enable AI art projects more than they actually do.

That wasn't my experience with the current layoffs at big tech. There was no effort to find positions for the engineers who performed well in the previous year(s). They just cut some orgs by the hundreds (I was in a call with 350+ other devs, many of whom are far smarter and more experienced devs than myself).
They just started cutting "weight" at some point, the "dead" adjective was dropped during the previous rounds of layoffs.

Sorry to nitpick, but I've driven across the USA many times and I've never had much to complain about with regards to our roads (outside of Ohio, fuck that state). Doubly so when comparing our road infrastructure to poorer countries.
People pleasers can cause people to dislike them in a workplace, ironically. Being a people pleaser in software dev very often means you will over-burden yourself because you'd rather say "yes, I can do that for you" than "no, I don't have the bandwidth for that".
I'd rather a teammate who is honest about their current limitations than someone who tells me what I want to hear. If someone admits they are stretched thin, it's now an "us versus the problem" to find why you are so overtasked. If someone consistently takes on too much (because they can't say no) and causes the team to miss deadlines, it's now an "us versus you" problem.

SC2 just released a huge patch that revamped a lot of balance issues
I feel like tossing in a patch from SC2 as an indicator that it's actively being supported is a little misleading. SC2 had the opportunity to compete with LoL and Dota2 for viewership but Blizzard made a LOT of mistakes with the first expansion that alienated players and sent them to LoL, Dota2, or CSGO.
Their game design philosophy and slow patch rhythm sabotaged the momentum that the pro scene had been building (warp gate tech, infinite value units like Brood Lords and Swarm Hosts, frontloading all Terran power into Stim units, etc). They also catered the ladder experience solely for competitive players, they didn't introduce many (if any) casual-friendly modes until far too late.

I guess we just kinda stumbled into being one of the wealthiest and most developed countries in the world while having the lazier/slowest/most expensive workforce.

I can't say that every skinny person has a healthy relationship with food, but I can say that almost every overweight person does have an unhealthy relationship with food. Everyone is allowed to make their own choices, but if I smell liquor on your breath every morning, I'm going to assume you don't have a healthy relationship with alcohol. Same goes for food.
I get the same sort of "helpful" suggestions
If someone is suffering from a cold and I tell them to "instead of going to work you could try taking the day off to sleep, it should help fight the cold virus", that's objectively true. If someone is suffering from depression and I tell them "try incorporating some exercise in your daily routing, it should help your mental and physical health", that's objectively true.
It feels like there's this viewpoint among many depressed folks where they want unconditional support from their friends/family, but only want the communication to go one way. It's incredibly difficult to support someone who is struggling with depression. If they offer suggestions, it's their way of trying to help because there's fuck all they can do outside of that.
I find people who complain about the PC community far more annoying, tbh. The PC community is just a bunch of young altruists trying to do the right thing (however misguided the attempt is). The anti-PC community has always struck me as childish.

How tall/big are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm 6'0" 180lbs and my caloric intake is about 3500 when I'm in a bulk cycle (I do a lot of cardio/fencing in addition to weightlifting, so my calorie needs are quite high). Was just curious of your composition given your caloric needs are similar to my own.

Just want to say that, in my experience, this is only if you're in the habit of regularly eating unhealthy food. Once you break that habit and your body adjusts to eating healthier food, eating unhealthy food regularly becomes too rich/heavy/sweet.
For example: I used to eat a ton of Reese's pieces when I was younger. This weekend over Thanksgiving, I had a few pieces and came to find that they were now WAY too sweet. Same goes for soda, once water is your baseline drink soda becomes far too syrupy and sweet.
You're completely right, maybe a software developer's total contribution to the bottom line can be conveyed with a few snapshots of context-less code. Maybe every complex problem humanity faces today has an equally easy solution. Maybe nuance and being methodical is for chumps.

I'm no doctor, but it makes sense why exercise is also prescribed for countering diabetes in that case. If organs and muscles are "hungrier" for glucose when routinely exercising it seems like it would regulate blood sugar levels.
For software development, I feel like being "overemployed" would be relatively easy as a mid-level or senior developer. Job #1 is your 'mainstay' job with decent pay/benefits (but requires more concentration), Job #2 would be the 'side' job that you could fulfill your responsibilities with minimal effort.
A full-stack dev with 7ish years of experience could easily create/maintain CRUD apps for a smaller company with minimal effort while focusing the rest of his efforts on a more challenging role at a larger company.

I would argue that a failed society is one that protects an individual at the cost of the group. There are many forms of exercise outside of a fitness center. I know a handful of guys in their 60's and 70's who are in fantastic shape due to fencing. They can still regularly place in the top 20% of regional tournaments against guys in their teens and 20's.
I kind of agree with you, actually. I think when it comes to clients, you should be presenting yourself in such a way that's most likely to sync with them. If your client is a bunch of grizzled/cynical old-school IT guys then you should approach them differently from how you would treat a room full of young type-A finance bros.

Personally, I don't mind routine checkups from management. The leading cause of detachment for me is tasks and meetings that generate no business value taking up an inordinate amount of time. If it takes more time to talk about the work I'm going to be doing than the amount of time it takes to actually do it, that's an issue.

There is a github project that allows runtime Python scripting. I've tried it and it does work, however I tested it on UE4 and not UE5.

Definitely agree with making a game. I was stagnating as a defense contractor and turned to games as an escape from the grind of government work. I ended up installing Unreal Engine 4 and never looked back. My career growth improved exponentially after that because I was finally excited about the stuff I was working on at night.
To OP, if you enjoy DotA then I highly recommend trying to make a DotA clone yourself and coming up with your own unique abilities. If you use UE4, there's a HUGE amount of free assets (especially Paragon assets, Epic's old third-person MOBA).
I would be shocked if Rider doesn't become the industry standard IDE for game development. My experience with Rider in UE4 and UE5 has been outstanding since I switched last year. It's a night and day difference between using Rider and using Visual Studio.
It's all about numbers. There are just fewer women in general who play competitive online games. There are a variety of reasons why, but the most obvious one is that the online multiplayer scene isn't particularly welcoming to women. Granted, EVERYONE is flamed in online multiplayer games, but women are regularly subjected to graphic and violent sexual comments. On top of that, there could be higher societal expectations placed on women that discourage women from "no-lifing" a game compared to men.
Tons of women play video games these days, but online multiplayer games are still quite a bit of a boy's club. It seems like a similar situation with engineering schools/jobs: it's dominated by awkward men and remains so due to a negative feedback loop.
The prevailing sentiment had nothing to do with racism, I recall the more liberal circles of the Internet lambasting his "small government, pro-business" stance while he uses executive orders to clamp down on private businesses.
