the context limits on google are nuts! Being able to pump 2 million tokens in and having it cost $0 is pretty crazy rn. Cline makes it seamless to switch between APIs and isnt trying to shoehorn their SAAS AI into a custom vscode (looking at you cursor)

vscode + cline extension + gemini2.0 is pretty awesome. Highly recommend checking out cline. it quickly became one of my favorite coding tools.

I personally write myself a letter once a year around new years. Covers what happened over the last year, my 3-5-10 year plans, goals, family/friends/health, photo of myself, etc.

Then the next year rolls around and I compare the current year to the previous year, see if I am hitting my goals & trending in the right direction. Helps me hold myself accountable.

Do yourself a favor and integrate GPT4 into your workflow.

I use it probably 20 times a day at this point.

example: "I ran performance tests on two systems, here's the results of system 1, and heres the results of system 2. Summarize the results, and build a markdown table containing x,y,z rows."

"extract the reusable functions out of this bash script"

If you're not using GPT4 or some LLM as part of your daily flow you're working too hard.

Get GPT4All (https://gpt4all.io), log into OpenAI, drop $20 on your account, get a API key, and start using GPT4.

I have to ask, why use 3rd party booking sites at all? From what I can tell, the prices are usually the same as the hotel... needlessly adding middlemen into the booking process.

Yeah I agree. Singling out the largest player is silly. We've basically given different nations the ability to control the thoughts of society. Social media hasnt been organic for a long time. Organic social media grows until it is consumed by bots and bad actors.

I dont think removing social media is a solution. I do think some sort of realID for social media that could identify every user is real & a certain age would be beneficial (think Worldcoin but not done by a private entity). I think this alone would solve a large issue around social media. The other requirement that should exist is some balanced discussion to remove the echo chamber effects. Amplifying only certain thought patterns is dangerous.

Take reddit for example. A single bot farm with 100 or so accounts can effectively manipulate entire communities.

Facebook (and much of social media) is the modern day Philip Morris peddling addictive experiences...except the harm is way less obvious. Folks arent getting cancer, but they are wrecking their mental health. The difference is social media falls under the first amendment and is much harder to regulate.

If you are designing something, being able to rapidly iterate is great. The difference is 4-5 prints a working day vs 1-2 prints a day.

I own two MK3s+'s. They are solid machines if you are looking to print PLA and some PETG. The stock extruder is a PITA. The MK4's redesigned nozzle/heat break & 10:1 extruder are basically a Bondtech LGX + Revo & should make for a great improvement.

The MMU3 seems like a marginal improvement, you still have purge towers & large buffer boxes. Hopefully the reliability out of the box has improved.

I wonder if it's too little too late for Prusa. A Voron, Ratrig, Bambu Lab printer seems like it has all these features & is CoreXY. The multi material options seem better on these options too (Enraged Rabbit Carrot Feeder, Bambu AMS).

In the case of the Voron or Ratrig, you'll load Klipper instead of the tried & tested (and outdated) Marlin.

In 2023, I am not sure I'd buy a MK4 at $1100 when you can get a Bambu for $100 more.

I've had the idea that a deposit in free to play games would be sufficient. Put some amount of money in, say $20. When you are done with the game, you get the $20 back. If you cheat, you lose the $20.

IBM Watson is the result of IBM being led by sales people instead of engineers. Prior to the role of CEO, Ginni Rometty was head of global sales, marketing, and strategy @ IBM. I dont think that was a coincidence that over Ginni's reign IBM tried to sell multiple 'dumb' products like Hyperledger, and completely missed the mark on cloud. IBM was in the business of overselling something and letting the engineers figure out how to make it work.

I first ran across this scam in about 2002 with SD cards back when digital cameras were much more popular. I recall a vendor "proving" it was legit by plugging it into a computer in front of me and showing the SD card had 1gb of storage.

I'm sure the scam is even older than that.

IBM would do these layoffs regardless. The whole "everyone else is doing it" is just convenient timing. IBM has lots of dead areas / legacy software & typically those areas are the ones hit hardest.

I think a lot of folks can get by without a Prime membership. My prime subscription ended almost a year ago now and I don't miss it. Amazon shipping has got progressively slower as time went on. Prime video is terrible UX with subpar content. At $15 a month it just isnt worth it.

I've now opted for the "free" shipping that you get when you spend $25+. Items that I cannot wait for I will buy local, which usually now offer same day delivery.

I've personally used chrome extension "Smile Always". It automatically converts all amazon links to amazon smile links.

This is sad. I am currently at $417.30 in donations to my local charity. Amazon is in denial if they think this hasnt had an impact.

Recently sold an item on ebay. Buyer opened up a dispute with ebay saying the item didnt work. I provided a return label. Buyer then claimed the post office couldnt return it because the item had over 100 mg of mercury in it (a new one to me...). Photos he provided were of the item unpowered & in perfect condition. Ebay ruled in my favor!

Then the buyer then just went through his bank and refunded that way. In the end I am out $240 + $20 for a "payments dispute fee".

There shouldn't be any coming back from this. There are failures on multiple levels here & CircleCI demonstrated no one should keep any sensitive data with them.
