Pointing out someone is a quack is also a great way to keep differing opinions out of a discussion and thus make sure that rational discourse is avoided on issues that are useful to the person pointing.

It's always useful to think of these situation in circumstances where you don't have any emotional involvement because otherwise you mind can play tricks on you.

For example imagine you are a European Scientist who really wants to fit every animal onto tree structure with mammals over here and squid here and all the animals fall into some easy to understand structure that makes total sense to you.

And some weird guy comes back from Australia with natures most awesome animal the platypus. A furry creature that lays eggs with poison feet. Your simple identification chart is totally jacked. It way easier to say he is a quack that evaluate the evidence you don't like. Heck it's totally inconvenient that your life's work is wrong, it's going to cost you money and esteem.

tldr; pointing out a quack is a great excuse for avoiding evaluating their arguments but refutes none of them. Everyone's time is valueable and figuring out what adventures to spend it on is important. Confusing that reasonable justification of where to spend your time with their argument being false is a dangerous habit to get into. You end up always thinking you are right and avoiding things that challenge your beliefs.

The money from the seller isn't free. For example there is a chance that I could get them to sell the house to me for less than what I am buying it for. If for example the seller met me half way on those fees that's a decent amount off of cash.

When I was buying my home the loan person I worked with is family so she helped me more than my realtor. Looked into neighborhoods for me etc. It could be that they were looking out for me more than normal.

I am in a market where houses sell instantly, more or less you look at a house and make an offer within out 24 hours or else it's gone. Which is crazy but the realtor didn't even get much of a chance to look into things here for us.

From what I can tell the main service that my realtor offered when I buying my place was access to the MLS. We found the houses we wanted to look at and he gave us access. Dollars per hour he was doing very well working with me, although I might be an exception.

I was building an app that worked like this on top of Flowdock when I used to work for Rally. Fully integrated work management communication application. If you have a small collaborative team it was awesomely powerful we had used it on the team that built it for about 6 months before the project got cut.

I got a pair to play with it. They are very fun and silly. When I go out everyone at the bar wants to goof around with them. I think to use them you need to enjoy Snapchat for what it is. A silly fun stress free way to share what you are up to to exactly who you want to share it with.

Most of the top rope gyms have challenging bouldering problems for my skill level since it really isn't their focus so it was hard to learn without doing the same problem over and over. Which was why I was recommending going to a gym that focuses on bouldering if you want to learn it. Just more fun stuff to monkey around on.

As for being helpful, I couldn't agree more. The culture is much nicer and more inclusive than any other sporting group I have seen.

I know of a company where the owner oftentimes bounced payroll checks (before common direct deposit) for years. Last I checked that company sells ~400 million dollars of goods at a solid margin and prints money while all of his competitors are going to dust.

I am sure it's an uncommon story but in his case the hustle worked out for him. In short it doesn't look good but sometimes at least it works.

Man can we be a little nicer here. He said "no gain time for time spent in jail" I am not familiar with the term "gain time" but as he uses it above seems to me additional time taken off of your sentence for playing nice. Working dancing to entertain the warden etc.

I took that to mean that while you are in jail you burn down one to one days which is not as fast as the bonus or "gain time" you would get in actual prison.

He may or may not be correct and my guess is it depends on where you at since state and local laws will be applied but... As for knowing what he is talking about my guess is many prisoners are experts in the system of trying to reduce their stays in prison.

My understanding when Obama wanted to do this that the Chinese were subsidizing their solar panels because it was seen as an important future industry. Those subsidies made the price very very low compared to domestically produced panels and all of our companies were starting to go out of business.

I think the view was that if we desired to have the technology to produce solar we would have to step in to assist our companies in the same way the Chinese were assisting their industry.

Figured I would get in before everyone thought this was a Trump only protectionist move, the main idea is nothing new.

What does that do for bankruptcy rules? Sounds either very good or very bad for people with unmanageable student loan debts.
