absolutely. but i think there's at least some evidence that lack of appropriate fluoridation is beneficial. certainly in my anecdotal example (ofc, i didn't grow up in this town and every town in the US has wildly different fluoride levels in the municipal water systems).

we moved to a rural area in 2005 with clean, but unfluoridated well water. had a son. brushes twice daily for 2 minutes a time like everyone else in the house.

he had an excessive amount of cavities and the dentist did not use any supplementation. This was painful and unnecessary for my son (we stopped using that dentist when it was clear this isn't 'normal').

i realize this is n=1. but apparently calgary [0] also realized this was having an opposite effect as well. (yes i realize this is slightly different than supplementation in the parent article but the supplementation would have saved my kid from unnecessary cavities.)

now, when the mega-corporations do it, it is 'just the cost of doing business'.

in both cases, the mega-corporations win because...they have the most money. law, and certainly justice, is not for the poor. at least not in america.

this was the comment i was looking for! i remember those red pages and found them annoying on even legitimately purchased games (which is how copy protection has always been IME - makes it so legitimate purchasers of a game got annoyed and hence, got cracks for games to just not be as annoyed!)

i'm on a number of discord servers. yes, some have that 'mean girls' vibe but considering the content, i expect that. the more tech oriented ones i'm on...that's not an issue at all.

to me, in general the vibe of a given discord is similar to the general vibe of that topic (i.e some games have terrible, vitriolic cesspools for communities and those discords reflect that. other things, such as one of the rust ones i'm on, reflects that community's vibe which is a lot more wholesome imo).

i too have noticed this and as such, have switched to USB out to async USB input DAC that supports that. there are plenty of good quality, low cost DACs available from folks like schiit, smsl, topping, etc. (cheap enough that as someone that used to 'roll tubes' in my audio systems, i can now 'roll DACs' instead lolol).

i'm quite partial to the ESS sabre series of DACs at this point personally.

we've structured corporations that this is the main driver, full stop.

as an example, earlier in my career i worked in aviation test equipment. for commercial and govt't agencies. let's just say i avoid flying anywhere at all costs now if i can. why? because, as always, safety is secondary to profits (and most of the time, you hope it is secondary and not ternary or worse). and this was in a 'highly regulated' industry.

i also hear official inflation numbers in the US are 'low' right now too, yet that doesn't mean prices are down or that things are affordable to the common person. my lived reality talking to actual citizens tells me a lot of folks are struggling. if anything, applying that same experience to argentina is my mistake. i guess.

leave it to ft.com to paint this as a feel good, happy story. meanwhile, argentinians are facing record poverty levels, inflation at extraordinary levels, and extreme wealth inequality. but hey, recession exited! austerity 1 working proles 0.
