This is a pretty ignorant take.

Backstory: My son has been learning to code. We had a breakthrough recently. I wanted him to figure out how to use the Internet as a resource, so I gave him a set of increasingly harder tasks. He was encouraged to ask Gemini and Google for help, but to try not to ask me. Although it was a rough start, he eventually figured out how to leverage Gemini. This is interesting part: When he'd ask it for information, the AI would give him a wall of text. He would rephrase what he learned in his own words and ask the AI if his understanding was correct. When he did this, the AI would give him back a nuanced response identifying where he was right and where was wrong. This feedback loop leveled up his coding skills big time. In a few weeks of this he felt confident and comfortable enough to build his game.
Here's a link to his game (called The Gamey Game) https://www.armaansahni.com/game/
And here's a blog post he wrote about his experience making The Gamey Game: https://www.armaansahni.com/how-i-coded-a-game-using-ai/
He'd appreciate any feedback (about the game, writing, code, etc). He'll be reading all the comments.
This sort of postmodern deconstruction of everything leads to an endless pit of nothing. Why even write that comment? What are words even? Let alone letters? Why is a capital A three lines? What are lines? Why are vectors? Why is anything?
Pffft. Get off my lawn.
I really hate to Jimmy Wales people about this
Have a case of beer on me, mate.
and this <waves hands around> is all we have to show for it?
I'm in New Brunswick, replying to you over gigabit fibre, working full remote and getting paid in USD, so not really sure what you're on about.
Plus there's Starlink if you want to live way out in the sticks.
My top post all time is an Elite: Dangerous locker room joke but I was a part of a community and they blew it up for money so fuck /u/spez .
Cannot believe I am close to deleting my 15-year-old account. This is a case study in how to fail at managing your community. Gross.
This comment could be improved by addressing parents rather than mothers.
The 3:2 screen is great for coding on the go. Crisp & bright. Will grab the 2nd gen hinges and matte screen when they are in stock.
You should click the top-right 'hard mode' checkbox.
I watched my partner play silent hill back in the day and pyramid head has broken me forever.
I liked it when they took me to Nashville every year. I went exclusive.
I could have flown myself to Nashville every weekend. But they made me feel special with a plane ticket and a few bar bills.
I guess it's the difference between 'marketing' and 'sales'.
I finally gave in to reality and got reading glasses for coding. Didn't realize how much I was suffering.
Maybe even just an intro to stats course in early high school would help?
Well right here I see a simplistic reduction of a complex country and people.
Perhaps it's just a human tendency :-)
Former newspaper industry employee here... This is a mistake by the WSJ. They would be better served by reducing their ridiculous digital subscription fees and skipping Apple's extortionate gatekeeping "service".
The newspaper industry was founded on (although nobody really understood it until the invention of the internet) being the intermediary between consumers and companies. In 2019 the business has changed to content provision. But these old line companies (and who is older line than Apple and the WSJ?) can't help but try to discover intermediary points of control.
Pah.
One of the reasons I work hard is so that my children have a good future ahead of them. Why should my family give that all back to the state when I die? The state didn't earn that money... I did.
Fascinating article. Did you ever find a reason for the different ios results?
The people are free to go, but getting the same people to develop the same product again without infringing patents is a challenge.
I remember clearly the day when I decided the work of pushing my items through the shitty self-checkout scanner (the clerk's scanner is way better) and bagging my own stuff was a waste of time vs saying four or five pre-rehearsed words and letting the nice clerk do it for me.
"Hello!" <clerk something something pleasant> "It's nice outside"
Now I understand the clerk would also rather just jam my shit through the scanner and point at the payment total and grunt.
I think of it as the chatter when two modems connect. Some noise and then a little signal then we are done.
The article refers to compounds found in, for example, firefighting foam and not to the fluoride added for preventing tooth decay.
There are a lot of great quiet options in the PC building market right now, like PSUs that don't turn a fan at all under normal loads.
It is possible to build a PC or Hackintosh that is as quiet as a Mac Mini.
While that particular pitch was a mistake, pitchers do throw deliberately 'bad' pitches to induce swings with little or no chance of contact.
Bonus: Here's a short video of a player hitting a ball after it bounced in the dirt. Baseball is fun. Anything can happen.
"How many zeroes are we talking here?"
Back when I used blackberry phones I absolutely could use the keyboard without looking. They used slightly different shapes/intersections for each key and it was all muscle memory and little looking.
The touch screen keyboards are more practical in many ways but they can never truly replicate a physical keyboard.
(I long ago traded the fidelity of the actual keyboard for the convenience of a touch keyboard.)
I have been using ad blockers for a long time I guess... I had no idea ads had gotten so big. That's gross.
Not really related, but dolphins are assholes!

Well it's smarter than running ads in newspapers, which generated a half-trillion dollars of revenue over a century.
Many domestic products become more expensive as the currency adjusts downwards as producers take advantage of higher foreign prices.
In the long run, this can depress foreign prices and even increase manufacturing demand here due to lower labour costs. But these changes don't happen overnight.
