I'm from upstate NY, and the loss of "breadbasket" status was great for the local ecology. When we were the breadbasket of the country (when the country was much younger), all the forests were cut down and erosion and water quality were a much bigger issue.

Source for your claim that this river is always in this state? Because the article disagrees with you. You don't think the country's largest drought has any impact on its largest river?

You seem looking for a reason to bash climate change and journalism in general.

I'm not talking about global sea level, I'm talking about flooding outside of the dikes. This happens all the time in the Mississippi river.

That's not how water works. It doesn't magically spread out throughout the entire ocean immediately

You're ignoring the fact that the water has to go somewhere. Where is it going to go? Are you willing to flood your neighbors? Are your neighbors going to let you?
