While there isn't a commercially grown glyphosate tolerant wheat; there is a significant pathway for glyphosate into the wheat you eat through the process of desiccation[1]. It is common practice to kill the plant with an herbicide shortly before harvest, which helps to maximize yield.

Personally, I suspect that many people who present as wheat/gluten sensitive may in fact be reacting to the herbicides present in the wheat.

Generally speaking, incorporating as an individual doesn't save you much in the way of tax unless you get creative. It does give you the ability to defer income which in turn defers some tax.

On the downside, there is much more paperwork and expense from lawyers and accountants.

I would argue that YC is investing in products, not ideas. It has been stated many times that ideas are not valuable in themselves; their value is derived from the execution of an idea.

Furthermore, building a product around some open technology provides a monetary means to improve the technology. If you look through the list of contributors to many prominent open source components I am certain that you will find people who contributed because they were building a product that used the technology.

It's quite easy to release the GIL while you are running non-python code.[1] Just be sure that if you touch the Python API that you reaquire the GIL.[2]
