Might be true that the supported route are favourable, Gothenburg however do operate streetcars/trams together with regular buses as public transportation. These tracks will be hard to avoid in the city.
There's a Swedish iOS game developer that's quite successful as well, Toca Boca. They're doing games for the small ones and as a father of two I have every single game they've developed on my iPads. Quality work that sits well with my kids.
I wonder how far off all digital characters we are. Seems logical as a next step and to be honest I'm not sure I personally would feel any different about watching a movie with zero flesh and bones humans in it.
As a new Windows user, the hassle of updating software often make me sit on older versions and I can see why people use older versions of internet explorer for example, which makes my work writing html/css a pain some times.
I'd welcome automatic updating. Should make the web more up to date.
I'm not a developer so might not be aware of nuances, but wasn't the code under a gpl license and therefor clearly permitted to be published?
Beyond the obvious difficulties in the very nature of git and stuff like that to be very technical. Without knowing to much about open source projects it really feels it's such a tremendous difference in scope.
As a developer, you can contribute small patches, bits here and there or step in deeper and create new features or improvements within the current feature set.
As a designer, the bits and pieces option really is no option. Design can't be applied like that. It needs to be applied to the entire project in a consistent manner. Both visuals and user experience thinking. This makes it a far bigger commitment, something I imagine not everybody is willing to do.
When you have it you'll find good use for it. With that bandwidth you can start using cloudservices for backup and storage for starters. Currently I'm dumping photos on amazon once in a while as my sole backup, but once I've routed some cables from my new 100Mb line I plan on taking more advantage of the cloud and in the process throw away a few annoying external harddrives.
Continents move but Sweden is pretty far from the edges, making the whole installment pretty set, tectonic plate wise.
Still not permanent with your definition though, as we all eventually will stop existing.
i'm the art director on the digital department of a publishing house. Many non-web companies do web as well, just not their primary business.
Is there a need to learn it all though? I'm a designer at my place and here I do all the html/css work and a bit of jQuery fluff on top of that whenever it's quite basic. I do think that's how most places work.
Of course for a developer it's necessary to have some knowledge of html primarily, but no real need for deep knowledge. Not in my, somewhat limited, experience anyway.
