A task that takes months is a project. I view tasks as something I could get done in one day with full focus. Then at the 2 day mark I reevaluate. The additional day can always act as a buffer.

I feel sad reading this today. This Friday will mark 10 years since my childhood best friend died by suicide. This happened when I was in my early 20's and at the time didn't quite understand how to process. I was so angry over the situation I couldn't think about it with a clear mind. Over the last 10 years I came to learn that the people around me are more important than any anger or grudge I could hold against them. All the moments I've been hurt, angry, or disappointed will never outweigh how much I care about them.

My thinking is companies and people will take the path of least resistance. In this case it is sticking to gas powered engines. Maybe we need states to start implementing these laws to force companies to start investing more in R&D in order for this to happen quicker? Maybe moving from horses to vehicles was such a huge improvement that people were willing to do it. Moving from a gas powered vehicle to electric or any other zero emission system might not be seen as a big improvement and therefore the willingness is much less.

Ditto. I also am shopping for a new car just for the sole purpose of having wireless CarPlay. I put over 100k miles on my car in 3 years so I would consider myself in the well above average tier for car usage. Apple CarPlay has improved the driving experience considerably.

I spent a bit of time making basic webpages throughout middle/high school using front page. I didn't start taking programming seriously until about early 2013. It took me until about 2019 to hit 100k salary. My girlfriend has 4 years of schooling and 6 years of experience as a nurse. So i guess she has even more total experience than I do.

I work in tech with no college degree and about 9 years of programming experience. I make mid 100,000's per year. My S/O has 6 years of Emergency Department experience and a bachelors degree and she made about 65k at our local hospital. I think pay is an enormous factor in this. Her local hospital has nurses with less than 1 year of experience being preceptors to new grads.
