"Disqualification"?

There are plenty of examples of shallow closets in older homes/apartments that were once workers' quarters. I lived in a triple-decker in Somerville, MA that had a bedroom closet that was only deep enough for hooks on the back wall to hold the limited clothing of the occupants. The only way I could use a rod for hangers was to remove the closet door.

I've had great success over the last 10 years with a pair of Sennheiser 280 HD Pro over-the-ear headphones (https://en-us.sennheiser.com/hd-280-pro). They are great at passive noise attenuation across the spectrum (32 dB) and are extremely comfortable for long periods. It doesn't hurt that they sound great (if you like a flat frequency response) and since they are made for pro DJ and studio use, they're durable and the cord, ear pads, and headband pad are replaceable.

If I don't want the distraction of music, but still need to wipe out the sound of people talking nearby, I fire up https://rain.simplynoise.com/.

I've recently been looking at Fastmail and Kolab (https://kolabnow.com/) to replace Gmail and Google Calendar. Kolab adds limited notebook and file storage functionality, but I haven't found any decent reviews of the service.

Is anyone using Kolab who'd like to comment on how it's working for them?

I just converted to Sublime Text 2, using the "Vintage Mode" VI keybindings. I'm still missing a few things, but the "Vintage Ex" package and a handful of custom key overrides have gotten me pretty close to an ideal VI environment. Sublime Text is extremely customizable.

My favorite language is C, but I'm doing mainly web front-end work now.

It appears that the $550 is for a single weekend, which seems pretty reasonable compared to classes at Bocoup.

I've just been learning quite a bit about the business of car sales. Car dealerships make most of their profit in the parts and service departments of their store, so it's definitely in your favor to run your best offer past your local dealership. They are more likely to take a smaller profit on your purchase in the hopes of having you get your scheduled maintenance performed in their shop.

I love using the HD280s at work. They replaced a pair of Sony headphones which stopped emitting audio when the active noise-cancellation circuitry died. The Sennheisers block more of the mid and high level conversation noise (32db attenuation) and sound much better.

Additionally, since they are "pro DJ" headphones, Sennheiser offers replacement cords and earcups.
