That is such an unfair comparison though. The reason we are now getting completely screwed on consumer electronics is because massive corporations just get to bully around the rest of the world and we have zero control over it.

Building a gaming PC right now is no longer affordable. I can't even upgrade my hard drives because they have tripled in price. And it's all because of good old capitalism.

That sounds like a you issue.. it's wonderful on the terminal. It's their GUI which needs work (they have been improving, but still not a fan).

I've been using it on multiple computers for months and it's generally rock solid and lovely.

If you sat down and did the math on what it costs someone to pay rent / mortgage, car insurance, health insurance, daycare, schooling, going out to eat and drink, doing anything for entertainment, go to the grocery store.. it's not a debate that the real inflation is significantly higher all the time than what is used to measure the number.

Well, I'm on a small two person team.. for the last few years I would have loved to have 2-3 people under me.. I've been underwater constantly, but we couldn't afford it.

Now I have no need for anyone from a coding perspective.. I can keep up with multiple clients requests with a breeze. I don't have to manage anyone. I type of my phone while I'm on a walk and work gets done for me.

So yeah... it's not good.

I would just say in general Angular is best if you basically want to build an old school application as a website.. and especially if you kind of hate javascript and web development but focus on the backend as the main part.

Yes it is remotely true. Name one thing they have shut off that a large number of people actually used and it was important. We all joke about Google dropping things and yes they have, but saying they can just drop Gmail is.. well, insane.

If you already have a mature code base, then it's very easy to get AI to write excellent code. It has a ton of documentation on what you already do, how you do things, functions to use etc.

I read all the changes AI does. I work in small chunks.

Even if you have an architecture in mind, and even if the agent follows it, sooner or later it will need to be reconsidered

The agent can modify the structure you want to change to 100x faster than you can. That's the beauty of it. We all know how hard it is manually to make architectural changes once you've started to lock into something.

These comments just show me you must not be using AI in the right way, or haven't used it enough to learn "how" to use it. I've been using claude code months now at full speed. You are simply wrong that it doesn't generate good code.

Sorry but what a ridiculous take. There are two phone options in the western world: iphone and android. 99.99% of the people aren't' going to even fathom they could install their own OS on a phone or whatever.

There is a clear MONOPOLY on phones and to even further take away the right to just install something on it is crazy. I already hate Apple for that, but there's no recourse in the monopolistic & capitalistic US and now it's going to be 100% gone.

The proof is already there. It's concrete. I've seen it directly the last few months of using claude code. It closed the loop. It's insanely beneficial when used properly- that is a pure fact. You act like it's an opinion.

Except the definitions of poverty are defined to make it seems like it's not poverty. When you have a massive amount of the population that lives paycheck to paycheck, is one small medical emergency away from bankruptcy / can't pay their rent/mortgage. Will lose their job because of little to no protections. Very little social safety nets... most people are a lot closer to 'poverty' than looking at simple statistics.

I have been building a game via a separate game logic library and Unity (which includes that independent library).. let's just say that over the last couple weeks I have 100% lost the need to do the coding myself. I keep iterating and have it improve and there are hundreds of unit tests.. I have a Unity MCP and it does 95% of the Unity work for me. Of course the real game will need custom designing and all that; but in terms of getting a complete prototype setup.... I am literally no longer the coder. I just did in a week what it would have taken me months and months and months to do. Granted Unity is still somewhat new to, but still.. even if you are an expert- it can immediately look at all your game objects and detect issues etc.

So yeah for some things we are already at the point of "I am not longer the coder, I am the architect".. and it's scary.

Very true.. also I would say even what I get out of claude code is absolutely phenomenal right now.. but sometimes it does take minutes. I just had it take 15 minutes to do something. But what if you had access to the hardware to run it basically instantly?

Just think how these big companies will use that kind of power for themselves to get even more extreme uses out of it.

It's probably more "active" sitting. If you are a gamer (especially computer gamer), you are generally not just sitting back "relaxing". Your body is more engaged and you are constantly moving your body in some way.

Sitting and watching tv you can literally be completely still for long periods of time.

Literally the last thing on the internet you can complain about is Steam. PC gaming would be the biggest cluster fuck in the world- if not fairly dead / super niche.

You would need to install 12 front-ends like Steam that would be hot trash and have a handful of games and be the most miserable shit ever. You wouldn't have sales, reasonable game prices, or family library sharing (this would be absurd to any other company).

Steam is a prime example of when a monopoly ends up to be the best for the consumer.

I don't know what you are doing- but GPT5 is incredible. I literally spent 3 hours last night going back and forth on a project where I loaded some files for a somewhat complicated and tedious conversion between two data formats. And I was able to keep going back and forth and making the improvements incrementally and have AI do 90% of the actual tedious work.

To me it's incredible people don't seem to understand the CURRENT value. It has literally replaced a junior developer for me. I am 100% better off working with AI for all these tedious tasks than passing them off to someone off. We can argue all day if that's good for the world (it's not) but in terms of the current state of AI- it's already incredible.

Well I'm part of a small few person team- I had a junior developer helping me who left. And I literally don't need someone like him anymore because I can do anything that he was doing via AI faster and better because it's under my control. I can have a 20 minute conversation and code revision that would have taken days for someone junior to code and would have probably been not done right (by 'right' I mean how I want it to be done, not necessarily wrong)

To think the same isn't happening all over the place and will only continue is ignoring just how powerful this tech is.
