I think it's because it's relatively straightforward to accomplish. These guys can work on creating stuff like this and put on their portfolio they created "Noun.js" and it 'looks good' to those not in the developer world and knowing a new one is out every week.
I consider them somewhat fluffy and learn just to say nice job and move on.
I looked into making something like this awhile back, but this looks great. Brushing up the UI on the landing would help, but all in all--great job!
I wasn't taking an action. I didn't know if it was a completely custom layout as seeing it was Wordpress layout.

I know it's Wordpress and all but come on.
I kind of the think the subject line thing is a little off.
If I say something to a client they may want to document it (as would I) and generic subject lines after a large correspondence kill it.
I've personally fond of piping.
