I miss this design ascetic.
His half marathon is still 2nd all time.
Rough that his Marathon time is also 2nd!
Thats my sprinting speed - which I can sustain for around 30 seconds.
$40B. Numbers mean nothing anymore
The same issue applies to fastfood, coffee chains and taxi services. Capitalism.
LONG PRESS????!?! you legend. How does one find these things out.
Drives me insane that to see my existing Google library and shared albums I must allow Google photos access to my phones photos - at which point it turns auto back on.
yup, this is how I 'type'
This might be how Apple will start to see even more sales, the M series processors are so far ahead of anything else, local LLMs could be their main selling point.
Have you seen windows lately?
(but yes, Apple seems happy to ship buggy software these days)
Seconded.
I'll probably leave reddit when old.Reddit.com gets the chop
42 inches! thats a lot of viewing area.
The same can be said about those working in the weapons industry etc.
Yes, the window has shifted considerably since Google glass
I wonder if a big part of it is simplification at Apples end. It’s just easier and more cost effective to make more M4s regardless of where they end up?
Honestly this is iPads biggest problem. My is from 2019, and there’s just no reason to upgrade, unlike a phone I don’t need it to have a better camera or be lighter or whatever. They nailed it years ago and the hardware is so good the software never really challenges it.
I miss the online storage. My ISP let you use it to host your own site. So I hosted and tinkered - bliss
Immich is probably the best option
This was my plan, but then I just switched to lost of chess.com
hahaha, this is how I found out too!
I think this is only going to get worse worse, as phones, tablets and PCs are broadly a solved problem these days (outside intensive tasks). Literally nothing wrong with the 15 year old imac I have except for apple no longer supporting the OS.
'"Working in trade" had a low social status' I think the push in the 90's to drive everyone to university also had a big negative impact on the status of 'working in the trades'.
I still use PICASA it works fine. However, when google severed the gdrive-photo linking it meant my photos didn’t automatically download from google to my PC. This is what killed google for me.
Yoto is genuinely one of the most underrated pieces of tech. 10/10 for me.
I wonder how many people in the UK have actually got their passport out to sign into these services. I'm guessing the average HN user isn't likely to do this, but I'd love to see the numbers for the general populous.
sure, but your reducing the likelihood of your real data getting out there if it's only stored in one place, rather than hundreds.
ah, 'newspeak'
Would you really put it past them? Gmail is after all a free service.
