same situation. my commuter bike has been hanging on the wall since March. moving more into weekend, MTB rides with my family. i find it very hard to get motivated to just ride a loop for exercise. the utility of commuting into work really motivated me for some reason.

is this a national risk? - think other countries taking out these massive, saas offerings. must be easier than simultaneously targeting thousands of disparately configured, onprem implementations

librarians are in no way like SM corporations. SM corporations are like digital drug dealers, doing anything possible to increase the eyeball time on the app. they achieve this by any means necessary. even at the cost of further radicalizing the thoughts/opinions of the masses. everything being discussed here threatens their very existence and they know it.

lame. the real problem is the algorithm generated feeds that apps like instagram, FB and twitter use. their main goal is to occupy the eyeballs for as long as possible. this manifests in people being sucked deeper down into their own echo chamber. yes, that echo chamber is filled with garbage, but the garbage lined, endless pit of media streaming and it’s impact on our society squarely originates at the core and maniacal focus of SM platforms to to increase app use time. period. everything else is window dressing.

good article and agree that continued 1:1s with a team of 60 wouldn’t be worth it. i’d switch to a group meeting format or have 1:1s with key leads

emergency is becomingly unfortunately normalized with regards to wild fires in the western part of the country. also, “living your life” infers a generalized comparison and if that’s the case you must consider the destructive impact (homes/businesses) of the fire that lives on well beyond the actual event. - bad air quality from pollution isn’t destructive in that manner

google search is already going down the tubes. for example, i search every variation of “when is grass fungus active” and am served up with results on how to cure grass fungus. just one example of many in how there search engine cannot deal with different angles to a search and has huge delivery buckets that aren’t useful, if you need a more granular search ability

if these companies can’t handle the scale, then maybe they need to reduce their scope. “it’s hard to find a solution” doesn’t cut it anymore. either amazon and these giant tech companies find solutions (privacy, graphic content, insert big scale tech problem) to these problems or they suffer the consequences of liability. or they reduce the scope of the service.

this is great. also, why must every stinking device have a light letting you know the device is on or sleeping or whatever. so annoying. monitors, printers, cable modems, routers, everything has freaking, annoying blinking lights. i have to use dark tape to cover it all.

it’s not the only way and i think there could be massive, negative side effects. economic localization is the way forward. it would help with carbon reduction, offset job loss from automation, counteract the loss of human scale with regards to the interconnected, toxic mass consciousness by moving our realities back to our communities.

landlords drive up housing costs? try the pyramid scheme we call our economy. your scrutiny is severely misguided. i could care less what anyone thinks of me choosing to keep and rent the house i moved out of. work 60 to 80 hours a week like everyone else or go buy a tiny house in the woods and find happiness

wow. broadly ignorant statement. many landlords (like me) just kept a house they moved out of. i’m not s professional and was charging way under market because i liked the trnants. they stayed there 10 years. during that time i replaced the roof and ac unit among other things. not sure how i’m inflating thr market by charging 1200/month for a 2k sq ft house with 1/2 acre in a very hot area?
