oh how his fans are going to get an awful taste in their mouth when they realize which side he is on
Right. As soon as we convict China, Russia, Germany, Japan, Chile, France, and every country from doing exactly the same things or worse.
when your whistle blowing only reveals secrets of one side, then i am very skeptical of motivations.
where are the dumps from north korea. where is kim jong un's private communications with Xi Jinping. Where is Putin's communications with Lukashenko. Where are internal memos from the people's liberation army. Where are the leaks from the Ayatollahs.
Also yes the targets were western governments. What about western corporations? Where are leaks from Boeing about their issues? Where are leaks from Facebook about PTSD of their moderators? Where are the leaks about Peter Thiel or Elon Musk or whatever?
The targets WL chose were basically the "evil west", you know, the only reason Ukraine has not been reduced to a prison complex.
Imagine if there was 'old growth internet' and the federal government forced big tech companies to preserve big chunks of it.
RMS - "Many years ago I posted that I could not see anything wrong about sex between an adult and a child, if the child accepted it," . . . "Through personal conversations in recent years, I've learned to understand how sex with a child can harm her psychologically. This changed my mind about the matter: I think adults should not do that." https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2019/09/richard-stallman...
It shouldn't take years of conversations to understand that pedophilia is bad.
Ironically BSD doesn't have "a ruler", a cult-like leader like RMS. It is more democratized than GNU.
This is a long shot, but Hindu Lakshmi is also associated with lions and owls. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakshmi
half of those are not proxy wars in any way shape or form.
The whole thing is assuming that men drive progress and war drives progress, and both of those things are debatable.
Just wrap everything in PRE and do ascii dumps.

The US version of "subsidized by the government" is that the government guarantees gigantic piles of money to be loaned to 18 year olds and then says they have to pay it back.
This tends to attract an enormous amount of non-education related work like loan servicing companies, bloated school administration, etc. Now schools mission is not just to educate it is to get a piece of that huge loan pie. It creates perverse incentives like universities competing on how fancy their dorms are or whatever meanwhile they are trying to drive down all costs like turning full time professors into part time employees who have to get second jobs to make ends meet. Kids become just loan delivery mechanisms to administration.
What a subsidy would be is just... giving the money directly to the schools. Like is done with high school.
it says that Universities should be free.
Reminds me of Hitchhikers Guide … they had to figure out the right question to ask.
great job
whats funny is the divide between math theory in the 20th century and automated arithmetic.
math world - "wouldn't it be great if we had a thing called a field, or even better a group, a bunch of rules everyone agrees on where operations are closed and you can make all these great discoveries and there is so much consistency and predictability..."
computer world - "yes but wouldn't it also be great if we could add binary fractions with rounding...."
Whay do u mean i called Elon he said sure cmon over we smoked weed and made a cool double decker car and drove it to Tim Apples house and he hired me to work on m5 chip. its still like that.
I spent two hours trying to get hello world working on stm32 , on a pi it takes two minutes. its about barrier to entry not about quality of hardware. Same thing when Arduino came out people was saying so what its just an avr or whatever.
whats funny about sound is in an environment with multiple creatures it can be hard to isolate one from the other, but with visual pictures it is somewhat easy.
in pictures you have a 2d projection of 3d information, with time as optional. animals dont have the same 3d position at the same time so its rare for one to be occluding the other in the projection.
in sound you have to have time, sound without time has basically no meaning. but with one mic its a 1 dimensional signal varying over time, coming from a 3d environment. where creatures easily overlap each other in the time dimension.
i would say yes, a lot of things fail from a lack of kindness.
Tesla self driving Tesla robotaxi Tesla park summon Tesla cybertruck Tesla solar roof tiles Boring company etc etc
One of the main things that Toyota Production System brings to manufacturing is the concept of respect, everything is supposed to be based on respect for each other. Maybe people fall short of that alot of the time, but that is the goal and intrinsic to all their other techinques like genchi genbutsu, kanban, just in time, waste elimination, etc.
"Being nice is the new punk"
yes, this is a huge adjustment for me as old Gen X trying to work with Gen Z / Millenials. I feel like Michael Scott sometimes to be honest... raised in an environment where bigoted jokes, brutal insults, shouting, were the norm and expected, adjusting to being around the new generation which was raised on anti-bullying and therapy. I am glad things are changing, the old ways were very dysfunctional and counterproductive.
Maybe its just the lead poisoning.
I go back and forth with it. Once I got some money i bought some old dream machines back. it was great for a while. but At one point i had like 15 retro computers that i almost never used, eventually i went Marie Kondo and gave a bunch away and it feels good to have actual closet space. kept a few that were special. now... about this pile of 30 old hard disks i have... oh and my collection of usb type-b and usb-mini cables...
it took me several hours to get llama.cpp working as a server, it took me 2 minutes to get ollama working.
much like how i got into linux via linux-on-vfat-on-msdos and wouldnt have gotten into linux otherwise, ollama got me into llama.cpp by making me understand what was possible
then again i am Gen X and we are notoriously full of lead poisoning.
i find it ironic one of the most gatekeepy, closed, walled garden companies in the history of the planet, Bloomberg, is a sponsor of one of the most free most open piece of software ever.
the difference between new york times and a independent creator journalism is that the NYT can fund a huge legal department to defend free speech inside the court system. Its why the major free speech cases like NYT v Sullivan have the NYT in the name.
There is never, ever going to be an equivalent case with big tech ("Google V Sullivan") because Google does care what happens to youtube creators, and they are not liable because thanks to section 230 they are not a publisher. Google do not care if any youtuber get sued out of existence by the government or the powerful. Same for Wikipedia, Wikipedia is never going to be involved in a major free speech case because thanks to section 230 they have no legal liability for what others post on their site. Same for Facebook, Twitch, Twitter, all of them. Big Tech media has absolutely zero protections for any of the journalism done on them.
That is why big cases like Weinstein are still done by the NYT and The New Yorker.
fascinating. you know i feel like AI will eventually have to create its own art because its a way that intelligent beings learn things.
Yes.... you wind up with business people who know a ton about business but nothing about software engineering.
No version control, no approval process, no source code repository, no unit or regression testing, no logging, no test vs production environment, no central place where all code/macros are saved, no documentation.
visual basic has been included in excel for decades, its just called VBA not VB. if you thanos snapped VBA out of existence the world would probably stop functioning for several weeks.
"I don't want to learn the M language"
i am baffled. power query / M is taking over the corporate world and its extremely, extremely useful. its one of the most useful things that nobody in open source world has tried to copy (that im aware of).
Raspberry pi was originally an educational non profit
