i built the same thing (though only the notifier, not all the stat tracking) for my friend group back in 2017 when PUBG came out and we were trying to play together as often as we could. can confirm it worked great.

i eventually moved the bot to glitch.com (rip) where we could collaborate on it and it evolved into a monster of in jokes and utilities. it's going offline this week unless i can find the time to migrate it off glitch

The article is arguing that the people the author agrees with should have more authority to do what they want and the people they disagree with should have less. And when those people won't leave then "we need to be okay ruffling some feathers". Sounds pretty fascist aligning to me.

Deno Deploy Beta 2 5 years ago

Typescript/Deno is very ergonomic and presents a lower barrier for entry for writing web servers. However, it's a relatively large and slow to start runtime which makes it less than ideal for developer tools.

You should use the right tool for the job. Not every language is good for every job or every person.

"I think there are very valid parts of this argument about appropriation of voice," he added, saying he believes "we do have the obligation to teach ourselves and to do research and to treat people with respect if we're going to have them feature in our work".

He said there must be "decency towards people outside of one's own immediate experience".

This is the key point. If you are not doing your research, misrepresenting people or not showing the respect people deserve you should to be called out. From my point of view it looks like the people complaining about self-censorship are just being told to show common decency and they don't like that

RIP Google Music 6 years ago

I'm now on Apple Music, after a year or so of being very unhappy using Spotify. It does the streaming big catalogue of music + upload your own and stream it too that I need. I love the ease of paying for a service and streaming any music I want but there's a bunch of stuff I own from bandcamp or cds which aren't on any streaming provider and I want them to be a part of my library too. Google Music did it well for me for a long time; Apple Music is doing it alright enough for me now. Apple Music in iTunes is absolute garbage on both mac and windows, but the android app works well.
