My experience of the non-US military is that soldiers have a lot more accountability.

You are told the rules, standards are high and you are held accountable by your peers and superiors. Infractions are punished and squads are self-policing as you can be punished if one of your squad is caught breaking the rules. IE people are always looking over your shoulder and you are looking over theirs.

And the US military seems very similar. Yes mistakes are made and crimes are committed but overall standards are high.

Most cops I see in the US operate on their own (so no squad policing) and standards dont seem to be very high compared to non-US cops I know.

PPE, potential treatments, Ventilators have all been proven to work for their intended purposes. Thats why we stockpile them.

I can't see the upside in doing this through the banks other than to make it a logistical nightmare for small businesses - if anyone has thoughts otherwise I would really like to understand.

Financial Institutions are set up already to do Know Your Customer (to prevent fraud).

And they have systems/processes in place to file loans through E-Tran (needed to file a loan with the SBA).

You arent hearing back instantly because FIs are completely overloaded with this and modifying existing loans/mortgages for small businesses and customers.

Its not even that in places. Some hospitals in Dallas will only test you if you are critical i.e. cannot breathe on your own.

I have a spreadsheet at work that does this for manual tasks. It calculates minutes to perform the task X # employees X yearly frequency of task.

Once I've plugged in the values, I go back and ask if we really want to spend 30 hours a year updating intranet employee profiles or if we should use that time to fix some bugs or code a new feature.

Its quite effective to pushing back on unneeded tasks.

Water plants need people to run them. And power, which means power plants need people (or fuel trucks to refuel their generators if the power goes out).

If those people are sick, the water may stop flowing.

Technology wise, Magic Bands are awesome.
