Hi, my name is Raul, and I build fullstack applications, primarily using TypeScript, React, Go, and PostgreSQL.
Most recently I led frontend development on a whitelabel marketplace for grain trading. A big part of that was modernizing their web app: migrating off legacy Material UI to shadcn and Radix, introducing modern data fetching patterns and optimistic updates, and helping get their applications security-ready for the acquisition of the startup. I worked closely with the product team to plan, scope and prioritize work. The result was a noticeable jump in loading speeds, a dramatic increase in customer satisfaction and task success rate, and a successful acquisition review.
On the backend I've integrated REST and GraphQL APIs, optimized long-running queries saving the company money, and developed event-driven microservices using message queues. For my latest personal project I built a concurrent web crawler in Go, BFS traversal, politeness policies, full-text search with Postgres, and wrote about the architecture.
I'm comfortable owning things end to end, from architecture decisions to getting something into production, and I've done that across fintech, agriculture, and telecom.
