Why on earth do you think an LLM would be capable of detecting problems with a listing like that without a human doing so first? LLMs are just as gameable as SEO, if not more so.

The "steering assist" feature in new cars is terrifying, and has almost severely injured or killed me once.

When my car was last receiving service, I was given a loaner vehicle with this new feature. I was driving home in the rain, and an aggressive driver passed me very closely, triggering the collision avoidance system - this forced the steering wheel to turn away from the car, made the car hydroplane and nearly flung me into a ditch at 55MPH. I had to force back against the steering and creatively spin my vehicle against the turn.

Yeah, let’s not let a little thing like safety get in the way of disrupting the “staying alive” paradigm.

Showing what you have done to help yourself is by far the most effective way to get help in my experience - not only does it show that you aren’t just helpless and will be a drain on resources, it also gives the person helping you a jumping-off point, avoiding potential troubleshooting and back-and-forth questions.

I make sure to do this at work, when I’m asking questions about things outside of my domain. I do it when talking to tech support for my ISP or phone, when I contact maintenance for my apartment and when I take my car in for service.

I’m very similar personally, though I often have background dialogues going over “sub threads” of whatever I’m thinking about.

I have also wondered if people who say they don’t have this kind of thought process actually do - but the real difference is that for some reason it persists in memory for us, whereas it is immediately discarded for them, leaving only the result.

Humans also emit pheromones, this is not the same as, or related in any way to language.

Animals don’t have language the same way we do, but many of them do have some kind of semi-structured communication. Cats for example, when domesticated, develop an entirely parallel method of communication specifically to interact with humans - one that is neotenous in genesis, but nonetheless absent from their feral counterparts.

This is in the same vein to what I wanted to say here as well - I find it very likely that people with no internal monologue are executing similar mental processes, just without them being so “front and center” in the mind.

I have the same general feeling as well. Like you, I can’t prove it’s not just personal feeling - but e.x. Opus via Copilot CLI behaves entirely different than Opus via Claude Code, which behaves differently than Opus via OpenCode or Pi.

“Smart enough” really depends on how many other people have encountered a problem close enough to yours and solved it somewhere on the open internet, IMO.

Most of the frontier models can, when prompted and tooled correctly, do a lot of “reasoning” tasks that amount to resolving how the user has explained a particular widely known paradigm.

The more difficult and obscure the issues you provide them with, the faster you notice them reward hacking by altering the criteria until they are no longer attempting to solve the problem. Using “advisor” style loops helps hold this off at the cost of tokens, but there is still a fairly short limit at which they will essentially give up if they can’t find all of the necessary information - sometimes the issue is actually worse if they find a small amount of information instead of nothing - they’ll extrapolate from that tiny piece of data and generate plausible-sounding hallucinations almost every time.

And god forbid your problem involves doing something a different way than the majority of people do it. Unless you can write a full spec on it, the models will repeatedly spiral back into adjusting everything about your problem until it matches one of the most popular approaches in their training data.

The Pi 4 / 5 will run OKish without a heatsink at idle wattages, but thermal throttle quickly if you attempt to do something intensive.

Even with a heatsink and fan, I had to upgrade to a higher quality set to keep Jellyfin from thermal throttling a Pi5 while transcoding 4K video.

That doesn’t change value. It’s value whether or not you can maintain a profit over it.

I personally don’t find it that useful for most tasks, but if say, you get paid $50/hr for your work and it saves you more than 4 hours of work in a month, there you go.
