It's a way of finding out whether you might be promotable.

Heh, so, if I googled your company before interview, and able to quote marketing sentences about how this is the "Great people. Great challenges. Great opportunities. Groundbreaking technology." etc., only then I can expect a promotion in a future years?

Blocking other users that (probably) did nothing wrong is always the first thing that comes to mind.

Do people with bigger IQ is more ethical, more friendly, more interesting, more liberal to different views?

Do people here is more ethical, more friendly, more interesting, more liberal to different views?

Low Cost Robot Arm 2 years ago

low cost robot platform able to follow people and carry stuff around and avoid obstacles.

So, basically autonomous self-driving mini vehicle. Сompanies spend billions on self-driving cars with quite limited luck.

Huh, for me its opposite, I`m ok with reading/fixing/updating few pages of code if its easy to read and easy to update.

Short code with multiple levels of abstractions, with dynamic inheritance, and with a lot of dependency inversion, etc. etc... I don't like it. I will spend a lot more time (probably) just digging into code while trying to understand it.

its the US hiring Mercs in the form of Ukrainian proxies

or, its just a russian propaganda... Could you please next time start you comments with disclaimer "according to russian propaganda.."?

From your other comment:

You also had Russians finding a lot of virus labs in ukraine etc.

You understand that no one except russian trolls believes in this lies? On second though I think even russian trolls do not believe in it..

You did not use Android phone, never tried Google search, Google Bard, Chrome browser, never ever go to YouTube, never opened Google Maps, and refuse to open Google Doc or Google Sheet link?

Yes, they mentioned this in article.

According to DIGITIMES, the high Tesla Model 3 fault rate can be attributed to Tesla’s decision to cease defining service intervals in 2019. The limited availability of Tesla service centers is another key factor.

Although the TÜV SÜD report is specific to Germany, Tesla’s lack of service centers is a global problem. Tesla currently has 186 service centers in the US. By comparison, there are almost 3,000 Ford service centers.

Looks like we read different reports. Thats not 221-car sample, thats 221 vehicle models. Models, not cars.

TUV SUD is a Germany-headquartered company offering testing and certification services. It did 10.2 million times of regular testing on 221 vehicle models between July 2022 and June 2023.

I'm not crazy about "SV moral arbiters" either, but I don't like posts like yours because they pretend a reality that doesn't exist.

I`m not OP, but I don't like posts like yours because they pretend that current status (not even status, your idea about current status) will never-ever change.

I don't think PPP is a great measurement of productivity.

Of course there is a fluctuations, but I don't think that statistical value (per country) is meaningless.

In the US we work more hours.

And this is an issue of this particular study because... ?

Growth is a weird factor in economies. It's easy to grow when you aren't at the top.

Are you really sure? Does poor people or poor countries tend to grow significantly faster than developed one?

The US' population is much more diverse than European countries.

Citation needed.

Yes, I used chatGPT-4.

Second, your fix is to verify code generated by LLM and then play with it trying to find a way to fix it. I`m quite sure that I will spend less time and less mental power by writing code in the first place.

Third fix is to play with chatGPT more, and read more code generated by chatGPT trying to find errors in it.

What happened with "reading code written by someone else is harder than writing your own code"?

I know exactly why I don't want to use ChatGPT.

I love to write code, I love to modify existing code too.

I do not love to read and then fix code after someone all the time. With ChatGPT I have to read then understand then fix code after ChatGPT every time.

Also, I do not love to fix code that often contains hallucination.

I`m not OP, but yes, I saw.

Thats my personal opinion, and nothing more:

Something like complex one time financial/workflow/maintenance operation that includes calling dozens of different smaller functions, but very well structured.

It does not make sense to separate it more into different functions, because execution is generally linear and having to deal with tree of calls where some calls is depends on state of the previous is become cumbersome and makes reading and making changes more complex.

Again, thats my personal feeling, and nothing more.

Best as I can tell: Jon von Tetzchner always had one primary goal - to become an industry titan, primarily like Bill Gates.

Could you please explain, in your opinion, why its bad that Jon von Tetzchner have a goal to become an industry titan?

Ugh. By your logic Firefox also should be ostracized, because Mozilla also using some of the money that Google makes thanks to their dark patterns.

*@gmail.com 3 years ago

That's pretty interesting, I just tried it with my aaaaaa@gmail (wrong letters) account.

I sent email to aaaaa.a@gmail and to aaa.aaa@gmail and receive both.

because OP did not mention company name.

storys about horrible Stripe appears on HN quite regularly, in 92-95% times user do not want to mention company name because usually company a bit shady.

other 5-8% of issues are usually resolved by Stripe. which is also not good, because social media should not be used as support line, but looks like Stripe likes this way of doing things.

upd: user created a post and then leave it without any comments, which also do not look trustworthy.
