Historian like this one is more like fashion columnist, they choose from huge volumes of history records and fit a story that tailor to current popular mass hysteria, if lucky and good at story telling, they will come into public awareness and get popular themselves, like ‘history is ending ‘ 20 some years ago, they should really be honest about history, respect the unpredictability and stop curve fitting.

usually Economist is a contrarian indicator, like in this article the writer mentioned them boom(doom?) at the exact opposite point.

we don't know what's the next step to organize our society, I can see a possibility with blockchain. getting older and went a lot places and knew quite a few people from different backgrounds and countries, one thing is clear, nothing is as sound/optimal/firm/truth as it should be, if you have a slightest insight of airline industry or any industry, you'll know current arrangement is only the get-by solution, majority of people did not care, not smart or believe strange things, borderline delusional, that's the human condition. We as humans need a new enlightenment movement, if we are lucky, we will go into a new era of understanding human nature or the reality we can construct, including a blockchain centered society.

I bought a samsung np900x3g about 5 years ago for the reason it's too cheap and put archlinux on it. then I used it as my main computer, bought 2 ryzen rtx gaming laptop since then, but only use them to play some games. it's a 8 years old computer and I suspect with arch I can use it for at least several years more, and I doubt any people here is still rocking a i5-4200u , but it work perfectly for me.

my understanding of intuition is that it's a construction like all the other concepts, how it's constructed is not clear, but it's a construct non the less, just like someone really has a 'gut feeling' against mask, and use another our brain to construct a 'theory' and 'analysis' why it's wrong.

this 'superpower' idea is as stupid as saying that 'freedom' and 'personal choice' can make you immune to virus.

saw numerous pop psychology book recommendations and this one should be read first

how emotions are made

it is the new new thing, really thought-provoking, a lot of ideas are speculation, but if it true(I believe most are)

we are seeing a new system to explain our current problems and create a new path to future

believing is seeing

also the audio book is fun, the voice lady seems capable of triggering a lot people.
